I am offering a Reneka two group semi-automatic espresso machine for sale. I bought this years ago with the intention of refurbishing it. I lost interest and it has sat in the garage, never even fired up until this morning.
I have no idea of the build date; 80s? 90s? The plate says the model is "Safari"....load it up in the back of your VW 23 window Microbus and you're good to go! Actually, a friend was talking about using it in a Kombi as a mobile cafe. She never got the Kombi and I never reno'd the machine....
I primed the pump this morning and fired 'er up. The pump works fine. The group heads were both working fine, then one got a bit asthmatic and stopped passing water; almost guaranteed a blocked gicleur. The elements heated up fine and heated the boiler to operating conditions (about 1.2kPa). The auto-fill is a bit wacky and wants to run more than it needs to; probably a dirty probe. The steam and hot water taps are a bit spitty and need to be repacked. Oh, and the RHS steam arm is MIA. The yellow/orange handles for the steam and hot water are sitting on top of the machine because the tabs are broken off.
Specs are:
- Boiler: Copper, probably 10L, not sure
- Elements: 3800W according to the maker's plate
- Plug type: Standard 10A, but N.B. that it should be 15A according to power consumption listed above
Machine will come with:
- Braided inlet hose
- Braided drain hose
- Single and double spout Portafilters
- Single and double ridged baskets
So, to sum up, this would be a great do-er-upper. All the important bits (read expensive) are present and functional. Pull 'er down and get everything clean, replace seals and gaskets, and you'll have a really well made machine ready to go for another few decades!
Price is $200.
This is strictly pickup only from 2229 Lilli Pilli in Sydney's south (not the Bateman's Bay Lilli Pilli). Please don't ask me to pack/ship for you, it ain't going to happen!
Please make contact for any queries you may have or to organise a viewing. Thanks!
