  • !!!SOLD!!! - Brugnetti Aurora HX lever (ACT)

A project of years finally complete. I have moved overseas so without getting joy to play with this marvel beyond the bench testing I am putting My Brugnetti Aurora Single group lever for sale.

The machine is entirely refurbished and updated. There were significant hurdles from day one as the Heat exchange tube had broken. There was some inventive plumbing done at some point to bypass this and run the machine as an semi-dipper. The case was non original and to top it off the frame was trashed by a courier.

eventually I managed to source Brugnetti's Pump version of the same machine and from it a nice replacement boiler, frame and case.

    Refurbishment included
    • Replacement of rusted section of frame, professionally welded
    • Fresh powdercoat
    • Fully descaled, stripped, refinished.
    • Replacement of the majority of seals including cafelat silicone group seal
    • Replacement of hardware with stainless steel, boiler flange bolts with hex key so never to be an issue to be removed in the future.
    • New group spring
    • New stainless bearing runners in group
    • New lasercut stainless steel front plate, thicker and sturdier than the original
    • addition of Anti-vac valve
    • Addition of autofill circuit with splash guard
    • Addition of power switch
    • New stainless cool-touch steam wand

The machine worked wonderfully when bench tested. Very forgiving and makes wonderful shots. The cult status of this unusual HX lever is well deserved. It's ready for years of loyal service.

Includes a naked and regular portafilter

Item is located in Canberra. Would far prefer a local sale so discounts for collection offered

Lots of time and money spent on this. Asking $3300 ono

long shot but I would also consider a swap with cash your way for a LM linea mini

Wow - beautiful. I'm interested. Few questions - is is plumbed in has a tank? Do you pull the shot, or is it sprung, i.e., you just set the shot and the springs pull it?
    Thanks

      Hi Phil

It is a plumbed in lever. Because it is a heat exchange machine it requires line pressure (or flojet) to function.
There is a nice strong spring in the commercial sized grouphead.

Ahh, ok. I can manage the plumbed in, but I like to pull the shot manually, not have a spring do it... more like the Olympia Cremina. Good luck with the sale.
        Thanks.

Nice resto Gus! A shame you can't keep her. I have one as a daily driver, a dream machine to work with, great consistent shots and cured my upgraditis permanently. Well, except for that one moment when I was tempted by another shiny vintage Lever. These levers are amazing and underappreciated IMO. GLWS!

@blackolive : You can manually push/pull to control the brew pressure on the Aurora if you wish. I just find it easier to let the big spring does its job.

I find the same with my Pompei lever Samuel. The twin springs have been designed so well that there is absolutely no need IMHO to add or reduce the group pressure through manual manipulation. As you say, it can be done, but once the grind setting is correct, and the dose level is right, there is no need to. I find these levers so much more forgiving than an E 61 in that regard and rarely do I have a less than perfect shot.

GLWS- Great looking machine- and love the workshop......I've now got workshop upgraditis....
