Be interesting to see what you think in regards to taste, going from a conical to the flat.Originally posted by Melbroaster View PostCheers Logga, the cure is a Mythos One. Have now experienced a 'big conical' which I will greatly miss but am under instructions from my far more sensible half that I can't keep both. Now time to try a big flat....
I managed to get a Monolith conical, and have to say it’s just what I wanted,
with it being a single dosing grinder. I quickly cleaned and put my Mazzer kony back in its box and in the cupboard, so I think the wife doesn’t mind.

!!!SOLD!!! - For Sale: Macap M7D Conical Grinder - Excellent Condition
I am selling my personal M7D grinder, which I have owned from new and purchased only 1.5 years ago.
As you would expect from many of the items owned for home use by Coffeesnobs members this grinder has been taken care of with great care. Spent some time looking around it when I was taking the photos for sale so that I could disclose any scratches or damage but couldn't see anything at all. It presents as shiny and well taken care of; I am very comfortable labeling it as being in excellent condition. Still even comes with the original box.
In the time that I have owned it since new, nothing has ever broken on it or required repair, which is testament to the reliability that Macap builds into its flagship electronic conical grinder.
Don't want to get into debate re: the pro's and cons of Mazzer vs Macap so if you have thoughts on this please DON'T post on my sale thread, but for comparison if you aren't familiar with the M7D here are a few excellent choices in the top end of the conical grinder market :
Mazzer Kony: 350W and 63mm conical burrs
Macap M7D: 800W and 68mm conical burrs
Mazzer Robur: 900W and 71mm conical burrs
Past Useage: Personal use for 1.5 years in a household with 2 coffee drinkers. Given this is built for busy cafe's you could consider it "barely broken in"........
Grinding: With the massive 68mm burrs it grinds out an 18g dose in around 3.35 seconds! Flavours are incredible, and demonstrate all that is fantastic about the grinding performance of large conical burrs
Sound: If you have ever heard the high pitched whine from one of the cheaper grinders think of the exact opposite. Basically a deep purr.
Included extra: The standard M7D hopper is massive, so I purchased the smaller M4D hopper and attachment mounting at $70 extra cost. Both hoppers are included with the sale.
Retail cost for this grinder with extra hopper is currently $2,430, selling for $1,800.Tags: None
