  • !!!SOLD!!! - For Sale: 1KG Coffee Roaster - North Coffee 1kg Electric TJ067

Second item for sale is my old TJ-067 1kg electric coffee roaster.

Please NOTE: Elements are not heating up. Everything else works perfectly but...it doesn't heat up and happened about 3 months ago.
I've left my previous work where I had access to electronic and electric engineers as colleagues...so unfortunately I've not been able to work out what's wrong. Might be as simple as elements needs changing.

About 4 years old. Have gone through 400kg of roasts.

Powers up, internal drum rotates, cooling motor works, chaff collector works and the variable fan sucks air out and air speed is controllable...everything but the element!

This plus the fact I'm moving home means I'm not going to bother trying to fix it. So if you are an electronics engineer or an electrician and lives in South Australia...might be of interest to you.

Asking $2500 but open to offers. Can include the steel bench it's on if you want it...the bench can hold a car engine weight.

Below is an example of a roast 1.25kg greens - Colombian Supremo...when the elements were working.

Open to offers. I really dont want to move this to the new house.

For a 20amp power point to be installed into your house is only a couple hundred dollars if you have it installed at the fuse box. I have a 35 meter 20amp extension chord if you need it. Thats worth $200 on its own.

              Hi Dillon,
I'm interested but need to investigate the non-operating element. If it's an element only then that's OK but if it's a failed heating control (module or PCB) then it might be very expensive to fix. I'm in Melbourne and am willing to pick it up if we do a deal. I'll get back to you shortly. Mike

Hi Mike thanks for the interest. Bear in mind this thing weighs over 100kg so packaging it up for transport is not something I can do as it’s an effort for two people to lift. Hopefully by picking it up you mean putting it on the back of someone’s Ute/van/station wagon...

Hi Dillon. Yes I understand. I would drive to Adelaide to pick it up from you. Are there two elements? And did they stop working at the same time? If so, it points to a control module or relay failure. Have you had to obtain parts or service for the roaster on other occasions? Did you buy it new or secondhand? And who did you buy it from - an importer or private person? Cheers Mike

                    Hi Mike,

                    There are actually 5 elements.
3500W of power from 5 heating elements.

I bought it new as I imported it directly from North Coffee and in fact they custom built it with all the trimmings (at the time) including the stainless steel chaff exhaust pipe which was additional cost but looks very nice and added the safety cut-off switch.
The safety Cut-Off switch did its job and powered down on my final roast. clicking the cut-off switch back into place everything worked but no heat.
Mill City Roaster now has the rights to all the electric roasters from North Coffee. I bought a replacement Fotek SSR-40 VA solid state relay directly from Mill City thinking the same thing as you, and the green "baking" switch which powers the element on - Mill City suggested the switch was the issue.
I did change the relay but as the "baking" switch requires some soldering to install so I chickened out at that stage. I still have the spare parts.

                    Thanks
                    Dillon
