  • !!!SOLD!!! - FS (SYD) Eureka Atom, Niche Zero, Sette 270W

    Hello fellow snobs.

Well I have decided its time to part with some of my grinder collection as it is really getting to the point of becoming a disorder, at least that's what my wife says.

So I have for sale for now, a Eureka Atom, Niche Zero and a Baratza Sette 270W.

I won't bore you with the features list of each one as you would probably already know. I can answer any questions if anyone has any or needs any more info on any particular machine.

The Eureka Atom was purchased 21st Nov 2017 from Coffee Parts and has had light use. What a beautiful quiet machine.
It is in excellent condition as you can see from the photos. I maintain all my tools meticulously.

Asking price for the Atom is $900 and I will throw in the modified mini mazer mess catcher. Grinder originally purchased for $1250.

Niche Zero was purchased 10/12/2018. Has had very little use as I was using it for single dosing concurrently with the Atom, but I could not convince the wife to weigh doses before grinding. As this is the second one I own (other one at the office) I can't justify keeping both. I must say this is my second favourite grinder, after my latest acquisition the ETZ.

For the Niche I will accept any offer equal to $800. I think this is a great price for this almost new grinder. It probably has had less than 1kg put through it. Currently they are selling for $1200 to $1300.

Thirdly I am also letting go of my Baratza Sette 270W. Purchased on 11/11/2017 from Di Bartoli. Again has been used sparingly and is as new. Great little grinder, super fast and loud. I find the built quality, for its price range, acceptable contrary to public opinion. A little fiddly to dose straight into portafilter, needs to be on solid surface and the feet firmly planted, but never misses the mark grinding straight into the cup supplied. Surprisingly accurate. Asking price for the Sette 270W is $400.

All grinders have original receipts and original packaging and can therefore be posted or couriered at buyers expense. I can only post five pictures in this add but I am happy to upload more if any one wants. For some reason I can't change their orientation. I am located near Sydney airport for anyone wanting to look see or pick up.

    Thanks for reading.

So which grinder are you keeping? I was looking at 2 of those and would be interested to know what you use on a daily basis.

Sleep required, said in the first post, an ETZ, substantially different pricepoint again by a factor of three or so.

Hi Sleeprequired. As 338 mentioned my daily grinder at home is the Etzinger. I absolutely love it. Having said that I also use my other Niche Zero at work every day and I also love this little guy. Between these two, I cannot seperate them by taste. They both produce a great shot. I know this has been discussed to great length, but for me I just find the taste from a conical burr better. The Niche is so easy to dial in and cleaning it is a dream. If my wife had the patience to weigh and grind I probably would have not looked at upgrading at home but after using the Etz now for a few months I am happy I bought it even at the substantial price. It does everything the Niche does but also weighs at the same time and makes the workflow Wife proof, and it looks so nice. I also like the way both of these retain almost nothing.

I'm interested in the Atom. How do you think it would compare to a Mazzer mini electronic (my current grinder)? I am a bit frustrated by the slow speed of my Mazzer mini, but other than that reasonably happy with it. Thanks!

Hi mackerman I can’t comment on the Mazzer as I have never used one. The Atom for me grinds a 20g dose in about 11.2sec. And it is so quit. It is a pleasure to watch it in action and not hear it. It roughly grinds a gram every half a second. Hope this helps.

I had a Mazzer Mini type A for a few months as my daily driver before my current Eureka Atom which I have had for around 6 months. Speedwise the Atom is a bit faster, much quieter (quietest grinder I have ever used out of about 20 odd different models I have owned or played with) and has much less grind retention. The Atom has a belt drive and rubber mounts for the grinder and motor assembly. Build quality is excellent for the most part, but I am not the biggest fan of their dosing funnel.

I too have just upgraded from a mini to the atom, I believe you will notice the difference in every way compared to the mini , and minimal clumping. It was a good step up for me and highly recommended
