I am selling my virtually unused and only 1 month old Macap M4 grinder. Bought for $750 from Chris at "Talk Coffee" and selling for $650 ono. Shipping would be extra.
Reason for selling. I found the grinder to be noisy after initially unboxing it and running it briefly with no beans. It was producing a rather loud buzzing sound, so it was sent back to Chris to check out and he found no fault and sent it back to me. I was not convinced there was no issue with the grinder as I was lead to believe the grinder should only produce a quiet hum when not grinding beans, so it was arranged to be sent to Attilio at "CosmoreX" who is the importer of the grinder and he also gave it a thumbs up after replacing a few of the external plastic parts which I assume got broken in transit.
The grinder is still noisy when the finger guard is removed from the doser chamber (removed for easy cleaning of old grounds) but is much quieter with the guard in place. The buzzing seems to come from the plastic part of the doser chamber resonating with the vibration of the grinder. With the guard attached it seems to brace the chamber and stop the buzzing. I do not want the guard in as it makes it difficult to clean out the old grounds if you are the type that likes to only grind as you make each espresso.
I have decided to sell at a loss and buy a Mazzer Mini Electronic doserless grinder instead.
The grinder cosmetically has only a few very slight marks on some of the plastic parts just from being handled and one of the plastic inserts at the top of the grinder body has a crack in it from being damaged in transport. This part shouldnt cost very much at all to be ordered in and could be replaced by anyone as it is only a cheap piece of plastic that is only there for cosmetic reasons. It seems this part is very fragile and is easily broken in transport if the box is not handled gently. A photo can be arranged if anyone would like to see. Although with the piece being black it may be hard to see the crack in a photo.
I am sure Chris or Attilio would be happy to answer any questions about the grinder as they are both convinced it is in 100% working order.
I will only ship via a courier as Aust Post do not have a fragile service. Pickup is welcome also. I am in Newcastle.
