    Hi PP,
I dont have a Flu excuse, I just lost track of this thread. Im sure you dont really need my gratuitous opinion, but it seems to me youre on a hiding to nothing. You already have wonderful machines, youre used to them, you have to sell them cheaper than you want. So what if there overkill to your current needs? ENJOY! [smiley=vrolijk_1.gif]

    Hey Gracey

Sorry its taken me a while to respond - Ive been in bed with the flu!

The equipment is in better than good order - its only a few years old after all, and these machines go for 20 odd years provided they are looked after... In any event, the reason why Id sell them is that is it simply overkill in my current circumstances. The issue with these sorts of machines is that it takes a while for them to warm up and they take some practice to get used to so sometimes they are simply not the best choice, even though they may be the best machines, if you know what I mean? Horses for courses.

As it looks now I will keep these since Im going to lose too much money if I sell them any cheaper than the price that is on them now, but if I did sell them Id buy a La Cimbali Domus, which is a machine I used to have. I sold it when I got this one, and at the time it was the right choice, but these days Im working fulltime and not studying at home, so it would be a better idea to go back to a more basic machine, which is still able produce really good coffee.

Thats it, really. I was going to sell it because it was too much for me now, but Im not adverse to keeping it, which I will do now.

Hope youre enjoying the Snobs website - I have found it to be an excellent base of knowledge since I started lurking some time ago.

    Cheers!

    Pete

    Hi peter P,
Im brand new to this , so excuse if Im off base, but, I am curious about why you would wish to sell, assuming the equipment is in good order. Will the replacements really make better shots?
    Regards

    Hey Rob,

Thanks for that input. Youre right - the two machines are very similar, but the bottom line is that the Junior cost about $3300 new, and the Faema a lot less than that new, if my info is correct. If the price is too high, im not really that bothered as I said - Im by no means desperate to sell the machines, but would like to so I can get a smaller one that would be more suited to my needs. In the final washup I know what I paid for it new, and how much they are second hand - Ive not seen any machines like this one for any less than $2000 and the older versions are usually about $1800...

Ill leave the ad up for a while longer and if it doesnt sell just forget about it and keep using my sledge hammer to crack nuts twice a day and impress the pants off people coming to visit!!

    Cheers,

    Pete

    Hi Fairtrade, Peter P

FYI I recently got my " 2 year old" Faema E98 Compact S1  which is same as La Cimbali Junior R...got it off EvilBay for a lot less than that  more like half of that.... I think that was a good buy It looks good outside and works well, though Im yet to take the covers off and see what its like inside. Saw another one (?age)  for $1500 or so too  which was the volumetric one... Though of course you cant tell with buying there...

So might still be a bit optimistic with your price Peter

    Regards
    Robert

    Ok - price reduction!

Ill let Dicky the Grinder go for $500 and Liz (sniff) for $2300. Let me know if you think these are better prices - they are firm, though. Im not THAT keen to get rid of them...

    Cheers,

    Pete

I guess that could be - I figured the price was reasonable given that Ive really only turned it on twice a day, so it hasnt done much work... Its one of those things when you buy something new, isnt it - it doesnt age the same way as it does when someone else has had it for four years!!

    Thanks Bill, appreciate your input...

Just my opinion, but I think the asking price is too high. Its 4 years old after all.

And the time of year may have something to do with it too, as many people may be away on holidays.

Anyone give me an idea of the lack of interest in these? I thought it would thought it was pretty tempting - anyone have any ideas? Price? Time of year? Type of machine too much like a commercial machine for the majority of home users?

Id be interested in hearing other views?

    Cheers!

Yeah, I saw you had one in your signature... Lots of people seem to have them, and for good reason. That tamper was the last piece of equipment I bought, and it brought my coffee to a whole new level with this machine. I used to use the plastic one that came with my first machine - but dont tell anyone, ok?

I know - not everyone can be like me and obsess over coffee all sorts of hours!! Thunder - not a chance - I LOVE that tamper and it will fit in the Domus filterbasket Im getting so it will stay with me. Oh if anyone has a new Domus rattling around that they want to get rid of, send me a message!

    Cheers guys...

    What Viv said.

And to help with your marketing, is the Pullman tamper included?

Give it a bit of time, Peter, they are nice looking machines, but most people spent yesterday getting ready for last night, and will spend today getting over last night. Buying a coffee setup probably doesnt figure highly in todays plans.
