!!!SOLD!!! F/S Silvia with Pullman Tamper

Up for sale is my 1 and a bit year old Silvia. It comes with a Pullman tamper with matching basket as well as the baskets etc that came with the machine, a blind filter for backflushing and 100g of cleaning powder. You just need a good grinder and fresh beans to produce excellent espresso. I have upgraded and my new machine has different baskets. The machine is in great condition. It has been regularly backflushed. The water here has no hardness at all. The Silvia needs no introduction. It is probably the most popular snobs machine and is built to last a lifetime. It has produced 2-3 cups per day for me flawlessly for the last year. It makes better coffee than I can buy even without resorting to timing tricks. It does like a methodical routine. It does need a reasonable grinder and a well filled and tamped basket. The tamper is a little less old and is a flat based Jarrah handled model. The edge markings I find excellent to get a level tamp and of course the tamper is sized to the basket provided by Greg so you cant get a better fit than that. The included bits are in the photo. There is the plastic tamper and the single and double baskets that are standard.

I heard an unsubstantiated rumour that Chris might be upgrading to a LaSpaziale Vivaldi II

As for the Silvia, and bringing this back on thread, its a bargain as the RRP of a new one is now $825, so grab it and pocket the savings to put towards a great grinder, CSers....

The grinder is great David. I am currently using it without the hopper. I t makes it look smaller as does the La Spaz next to it. I have a black plastic plunger that is normally used to ahem.. unblock drains - after grinding a couple of scoops I pump the plunger a couple of times and it blasts air down through the grinder to push out the grinds in the output chute. It looks a bit odd but works very well. That way I can have the benefits of a doser without the stale grinds problem. I cant remember who came up with the mod but it was not original to me. I had a look at the burrs last week and they looked fine.

Still early days with the La Spaz but it is a very nice machine to play with. Looks much better in the flesh than in the photos. I can make single shots easily with it - something that is pretty tricky on a Silvia. I think the narrower baskets may help. The temperature adjustment is pretty cool too.

IMHO Gregs tamper is better than the Coffeelabs one I am using now.

I do wonder what you do with a K10 WBC and no coffee machine.
