I love my challenge - noisy but a great grinder - highly recommend it as a purchase.

haha, cool. I was beginning to worry that going through 250gm of beans a fortnight was maybe excessive grinding.

Apologies for the slight hijack of your for sale thread.

    Spot on TG! ;D

Versatile > Being a neat freak, I rarely end up using my Minore II during the week so the machine really only gets fired up on weekends mostly ... so at a couple of cups each Saturday and Sunday your math works out about right.

The Iberital served me well, just that Ive been hit by a severe case of "upgrade-itis" :

I guess what is puzzling me is if it is worth the expense of a high grade grinder for such little use?
versatile if the maths is correct youve answered your own question regarding the worth of a high grade grinder.
30in30 is moving UP to a Super Jolly, an even higher grade.

When I read your question in the summary page I was about to say (not having seen what he was upgrading to) that if I was only drinking one cup a week, also owning a Sunbeam EM0450 and an MDF, that Id rather that one cup be made with my Macap.
After I get my Gino Rossi up and running Ill let you know if that would be my new choice (by all accounts it should be).

If you can afford it the answer is yes.

I hope Im not dragging a For Sale thread off topic, but being a new user to grinding at home, I am curious about how you would estimate about 3kg of beans ground in a year.

    3kg/year -> 3,000 grams/52 weeks ~> 57grams/week ~> 4 cups a week @ 14 grams beans per cup

I guess what is puzzling me is if it is worth the expense of a high grade grinder for such little use?

    !!SOLD!!: Iberital Challenge Grinder

    Hi all,

Before I put this up for sale elsewhere thought Id put it out here for fellow CSers.

Just upgraded my grinder so am selling my trusty Iberital Challenge for AUD$230.  Still relatively new, about a year old and has only seen ~3kg of beans go through it.

This is the chrome body model and has conical grinding blades for correct grind every time. Doserless model for fresh grinds every time.  Also grind on demand function makes for easy use with different size group handle coffee filters. 600 RPM motor provides uniform grinding without losing or burning the aroma of the coffee beans. Tinted bean hopper has capacity of 500gm with total gross weight of 6kg.  Great starter grinder value for under $300 bracket.

Review of grinder was posted in this site at http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1110157172

Selling because Ive just upgraded to a Super Jolly.

Pickup preferred in Sydney St George area, can post but postage is extra.

Email or PM me if youre interested.  Cheers.
