Re: Vibiemme Domobar & La Pavoni grinder F/Sale
Sorry to bother everyone again but I have another question :
Kiwi, I was just wondering how the grinder compliments the Domobar and also is the grinder a doserless model or not.
I think I have overcome the plumb in issue ( just throw it in the laundry if I have to when I get to the new place ;D)
I really like the look of this machine compared to the Silvia and by all accounts it appears to be no harder to use so that is cool too.
Suppose I just have to see if it is still up for grabs after the weekend and tomorrows test drive
Thanks
Rosey

Re: Vibiemme Domobar & La Pavoni grinder F/Sale
Quick indeed ... this is my warning that Ive got my eye on it
Rosey, I have a Silvia at home and, until a week ago, used a three-group commercial HX machine. No question about it; the commercial machine was MUCH easier to use.
Ive got to say that grinders with a grounds catching container never start off impressing me ;P
Cheers,
Luca

Re: Vibiemme Domobar & La Pavoni grinder F/Sale
Well, I must say that I am truly impressed at the dialogue my two little machines have created - wow. Thanks all for all of the tech tips and ratings of the machine, I have only just figured out how to post a reply on this site! Making coffee is my forte, these computer things will never take on....Thanks especially to FreshCoffee who has said it all really. Yes, the VBM is a plumbed version, I have plumbed it into 5 different houses (2 werent mine so had to blank the hole I drilled in the bench!) over the past 5 years. It is quite a simple evolution, especially if you have a dishwasher (as there will be a tap under the bench you can "tee" off. It is a hands on machine but thats what makes it great, especially as a first semi-commercial machine. I have just decided to move up to the next size and selling the VBM was the justification I used to convince SWMBO that is was a sound financial decison. I was going to keep it as a collection but it would be better being part of someone elses caffienated elucidation process. Anyway, a chap is coming to test drive them tomorrow morning so be quick!!!

Re: Vibiemme Domobar & La Pavoni grinder F/Sale
Thanks Javaphile,
If that is all it takes then I suppose that is quite easy then.
Damn it! if I wasnt about to move this would be a no brainer! Only trouble is I dont know the layout of the kitchen in the house I a moving into and dont know were I can fit the beast.
Nothing a length of copper piping wouldnt fix though hey
Mmmmmm!
Cheers
Will keep thinking about this one.

Re: Vibiemme Domobar & La Pavoni grinder F/Sale
Install a T where your cold water feed to the faucet on your sink comes off the main pipe. One side feeds the sink and the other feeds the espresso machine. No matter what type of piping you have this should be doable with simple tools.Originally posted by kevthemilkman link=1126311845/15#16 date=1129815355Unless of course it is easy to plumb in and remove again then all would be cool!

Re: Vibiemme Domobar & La Pavoni grinder F/Sale
Hey Rosey,
This really is one of those "once in a blue moon" opportunities. If I had the readies available, Id jump at it for sure.
Regarding plumbing.... I think this is really only a small obstacle to overcome until such time as you have your own house to play with. Im pretty sure that any plumber or tinkerer worth his/her salt could come up with a ubiquitous compact package that could sit on a bench top or under the counter, or where ever for that matter. This could be designed to house the online filter(s) as well. And the great thing about doing it this way, is that nothing would be wasted when it comes time to permanently plumb it in to your own house further down the track.... all the hardware can be re-used ;D and thats got to be a good thing.
I wish I had the ready cash to buy into this deal, I really do. Ah well, keep saving up all my pennies :-/,
Mal.

Re: Vibiemme Domobar & La Pavoni grinder F/Sale
Maybe a similar sort of setup to our dishwasher might be a solution. Hooks up to the tap, but you would probably want to filter it before the machine. Bit of a shame its plumbed only. Still a good deal however.

Re: Vibiemme Domobar & La Pavoni grinder F/Sale
Thanks for that info FC,
I really dont think i can have the plumbed in model as I am leaving my house soon and will be renting again for at least a couple of years before I am back in my own home. Unless of course it is easy to plumb in and remove again then all would be cool!
Anyway I will still keep this in mind and if anyone knows of a way to use it without plumbing in ( I am really new to this stuff so dont laugh too loud at that question) I will be listening with eager anticipation.
Cheers
Rosey

Re: Vibiemme Domobar & La Pavoni grinder F/Sale
Rosey,
the Domobar Super requires plumbing. There is no internal water tank in this model. It is a very simple to use semi-commercial espresso machine that will deliver genuine commercial quality coffee in a "no fuss manner.
The Jolly grinder is a very upmarket" domestic grinder. Some might call it a small commercial grinder sold as a domestic grinder, and the same is said of the rocky. Dont know where you are located but there is very good service available for the Jolly in both Melbourne and Sydney. Very little ever goes wrong with good quality grinders and it is very difficult to rate one type of grinder against another if they are in the same market category because....they will just grind coffee in an equivalent manner!
I have pointed the owner of the equipment in the direction of this thread, so maybe he will send you a PM directly.
Regardz,
FC.

Re: Vibiemme Domobar & La Pavoni grinder F/Sale
This all sounds really good.
Does anyone know of any sites where I can find some info on these two machines. Just so I can do a little research!
Have I got it right that this machine does not need to be plumbed in to be able to use it although it has that option as well. Just need to know this as I am moving at the end of the year and will be renting again so a plumbed in model will not be very handy at this stage.
Also how does this grinder rate against the Rocky for example.
Cheers for any replies
Rosey

Re: Vibiemme Domobar & La Pavoni grinder F/Sale
Rosey:
There is an impression that the more expensive or commercial machines are harder to use but the opposite is true.
It is probably much easier to use my 35kg Bezzera for example than it is the Silvia.
Likewise the Domobar will be quite straightforward to use, probably as easy or easier than a Silvia.
It is also possible to damage the Silvia by running the boiler dry but you cant do this on the Domobar.
You are also buying the machine, if you buy it, with FCs blessing and he is a trusted sponsor.
Grant
