Re: Starter Packs for newbie roasters.

The brazil in your starter is  Brazil Caxambu.

The Colombian was Colombia Valle del Cauca Supremo.

The Sumatrian is the latest from the polls.

The India Mysore Nuggets was a Stater pack special, 20kg of a top grade Indian that is the pre-shipment of the current crop.

The starter will nearly always contain the latest beans from the polls, sometimes they will contain an "exclusive" bean that we could only get in small quantity (too small to poll).

They are a truely "random" selection of 4 beans as stated... depending on how many packs were made that month.

Please also note that they ALWAYS freighted the day (or the day after) your payment hits OUR bank account. To be posted any faster would require us to know you want one before you know you want one! ;-)

    Enjoy your roasting.

    A.

Re: Starter Packs for newbie roasters.

Well I reckon Ill be ordering my starter pack.

Ive been home roasting now for 18 months (in a wok of all things) but I bought a black and decker popper last week and am just amazed at the results you can get. Ive been buying beans from a number of sources but sometimes they can be hard to come by.

Any Perth bean links at all?

Re: Starter Packs for newbie roasters.

I got my starter pack in the mail the other day -- thanks Andy! I roasted up a batch of the Mysore Nuggets on Thursday night, and today they taste fantastic. Im not sure what to try after that, but I think itll probably be the Brazil.

I think the starter pack will probably keep me going for a couple of months, but Ill be sure to get in on the polls next month. Now that Im really getting in to roasting, I dont think I can have too many green beans

Re: Starter Packs for newbie roasters.

I just discovered this site, after doing a google search for popcorn makers to believe it or not make popcorn for my 2 yr old ... and I discover a much more grown up use for them. Roasting coffee.

I have been inspired to order (and have paid) a starter pack .... now I have to dust off my Rancilio Silvia and Rocky and get back into it.

                Looking forward to it.

Re: Starter Packs for newbie roasters.

Received the Starter Pack today. Looking forward to some experiementing this weekend..... not a big coffee drinker but my partner is.... I know someone who will think hes in heaven this weekend : D

Thanks for the super fast delivery time Andy. I ordered Wed and received it Friday.

My only dilemma now is whether or not to participate in todays polling. Sounds so exciting though, but being a newbie, dont want to get stuck with beans I wont like seeing as I havnt even made my first roast yet!

Re: Starter Packs for newbie roasters.

                          Novice,

I suppose it comes down to how much you think you will roast over the next 2 months. There will be other polls (but probably not until the New Year).

Personally, when I started roasting, I found that ALL the stuff I roasted was at least as good as most cafes. Some was better than others, but they were all enjoyable.

If you want to take the plunge today, try perhaps 2.5kg of 2 different beans. The only thing I would say is do not get the Monsooned Malabar. It is an interesting bean, but probably not one you want to start your roasting journey with.

                          Brett.

Sounds like some good advice. In for the penny in for the pound... Thanks for for input Brett.

I was thinking maybe the Panama and the Costa Rica (I like the exotic sounding names) What do you think?

Now that would have been a good idea

Except i just ordered 25 kilos

oh well - nothing wrong with the old BOOTS & ALL approach ;-)
