Just one thing, when editing personal details all fields come up yellow and are unreadable. You can see the details when you highlight the line, but after that it turns yellow again. Dont know if its just my browser settings ....

    Belinda
Yep Belinda, I am having the same problems! Also, autofill in google fills the details, but my background is still yellow, with white fonts! Its driving me mad... > Thought it was just me....

    BeanSnipe... thats funny Slowpod.

I expect that next month the polls will be scheduled to date/time and have enough volume of stock to cover more CSrs wish lists. Maybe less origins and more of each would help. We will find the right mix in time.

Can you see a time when there will be semi-permanent beans that will always be available, kind of staples?
    Never say never they say.

CoffeeSnobs works because of scale. Lots of orders in a short amount of time mean that all the invoicing, bank reconciliation , ordering, receiving, packing and distribution is done in bulk.

If someone bought 1Kg of beans in a 24/7 web shop then the process would be something like:

    The order comes in.
    Payment is confirmed.
    Beans get weighed and bagged
    Package gets packed and addressed
Drive to the postoffice and send it.

Sounds pretty straight forward but the end to end process would take at least an hour (if not 2) and cost a couple of dollars in fuel.... for a single kilo of beans. That is why other online sellers charge double CS price and even at double price they would still want multiple orders to make it cover actual cost.

Currently CS is shipping 750kg of beans with around 100 hours of total labour time which makes it about 8 minutes per Kg as opposed to 2 hours per Kg. The CS model is obviously far more sustainable than the 1Kg “buy it now” model.

Having said that though, a future option might be to have a “non-poll shipping day”, something like “Everything that is ordered and paid for will ship on Wednesdays”. That could work with the only risk being that someone who ordered late Tuesday might miss that shipping cycle and have to wait a full week to till the following Wednesday.

One of the great features of CS is that we are small enough to be dynamic and we can try new ideas fairly easily and this might be one of those ideas in the near future.

    Hi Andy and Matt,

I like the clean interface, the ordering process is smooth and intuitive, works well in Firefox. Good job.

The only problem I can see now is getting my hand on the beans, cos they will be gone a lot quicker.

Now that Matt is free, maybe he can develop something like a sniper that can monitor when the polls come online and get the order in in the first few seconds

Good one Andy - this is an ace system you have developed. Im with Framey on the supply front, having been away for 2 days, ive missed the polls  , so it would be great to have rolling access to green beans. Maybe CSers can have some kind of futures investment to enable greater stocks on hand - or even pre order to make it easier for you to stock up for poll time? Thanks for the obvious work and thought you have put into this Polly

    Nice work Andy and crew.

Can you see a time when there will be semi-permanent beans that will always be available, kind of staples?
Or would carrying the required quantity of beans be prohibited by cost? Im not sure how many thousands of dollars you would be willing to have tied up in bean stocks... :-?

    Thanks for the feedback CS’rs.

Its great to see that most of you had little or no trouble adapting to the new system and that the “flow” was intuitive and easy.

There were a few mentions of the decaf, we will poll another “unleaded coffee” (decaf) in early September along with some other interesting beans we have in the pipeline.

The good thing about selling lots of beans quickly is that opens the door for more choice and larger volumes next month and with this fantastic BeanBay we can schedule the release of beans for a specific date/time so everyone can have a fairer crack at them knowing exactly when they will go up (well a few days notice anyway).

I’m really looking forward to the rest of the process so we can see just how smooth this can run, so far so good GREAT! 8-)

I also have never ordered from the polls before. I must say, though, that the process is very easy, quick and simple to use. Gee, the beans are dissapearing quick, too!

Brilliant, Andy - just great! Well done, and thanks for all of your hard work.

    Very, very good.

Makes buying easier. Is a real pleasure to use.

As a couple of people have noted, the only problem is that the beans just walk out the door. But even that has a good side - more home roasters seem to be about these days.

It is pretty impressive and easy to use...
I was just browsing without any intention of buying this month, but I ended up adding another 12.5kg to my ever growing stash :-)

    Thanks Andy!

Does that mean that ALL that coffee was sold within six hours of release?

Im glad to get my payment off but I would have liked to try the decaf :-[

Nextime Im gonna chuck a sicky just to make sure I get on! 8-)

Thanks a billion Andy, You Rock!

    BeanBay beats ebay!
An excellent ecommerce experience, as I was only looking ...then bought some of the Peru beans.
I did have an anomaly with the background colour having the same colour as the text in the fields used for the member/ delivery details. This wasnt a problem for me, as I reviewed the typed text by highlighting the row.

Boy I should not have gone to work today. Would have loved some Harrar but have setteled for some Mandelang. Its tough but I will survive. The order was very easy after I figured out that my shipping address was on the wrong line. Needs to validate that the first line has something in I guess.

After a much anticipation we are proud to announce ...
Sheeze.... dont you just HATE when you miss an obvious typo in the very first line of a 1200+ person email.

    DOH!

Im sure most CSrs had to read that first line 3 times -- sorry.
    ;-)
I bet no one noticed it though ! I didnt. With all that anticipation CSers jumped straight into Beanbay
