  • Re: BeanBay - June

I reckon there was 50kg+ of the Guatemalan avaliable when I made my order. After I processed it and went back to beanbay, it was down to 5kg remaining.

    Very fast indeed.

Always seems to happen with the first bean on the list.

      Is that all?

OG showed off my stash to a friend the other night, much to my embarrassment it has risen to about 20kg.

Unless there is something extra special in the up and coming bean bays I may be holding off for awhile.
      I must have 30+ Kg of greens : :

I wasnt going to buy any today.... but the CS membership card... oh and the malibar.... just had to get some..... and you cant stop at one bag, can you ;D

Next month I wont buy any... honest.... well maybe.... just 1 bag ;D ;D ;D ;D

50kg? 1 full bag of greens is 60 to 65 kg (Australian coffees come in 20 kg bags though)!!!

            hey andy
the new system looks great!  8-)
pity i missed out on buying this time.
will the roasted beans be available all the time or just at bean bays (until sold out)?
            best,
            andrew
The speed that these went surprised me too.

Sorry, I really did under estimate the volume this month but Ill make up for it next month and see if we can prod the bean brokers into getting more organised around the middle of the month so we can do it on time.

If I just order 200g of roasted beans, is it really going to still cost $10 for postage - ie the same price as postage for 2.5kg of green beans usually costs? Id like to try some expertly roasted beans, but at a total of $17 for 200g, Im not sure I can afford it!
That is a problem Clare but we cannot do much about it. Express post 500g satchels cost $7.20 so the cost saving is small and so is the bag. In fact we wouldnt get 500m in one so the initial kilo rate of $14.20 becomes around $25/kg. OUCH!

We use the 3kg and 5kg satchels which work out to $3.33/kg and $3/kg and they are delivered within a day or two anywhere in the country.

All other delivery methods are too slow for roasted beans I think.

The best bet would be to partner with a local CSr and share some space in their satchel or talk a few friends into placing an order together maybe?

Far out...I just got home from work and no beans left....sigh.
They were pretty much all gone within the hour..... there were 100 of us online
Woo Hoo... a new record and the server did it easily. Great news!

We have all heard that before!
(in fact Im sure I have said it myself more than once)

Nice to read all went smoothly.
I was at work so missed it all.
Never mind, I have a few kilos to keep me going, so maybe next month.

Thundergod ..... and others who cant make BeanBays because of that filthy four letter word - work..... >

Why not do what grendel and I have on several occasions....

Andy gives advice (in advance) of the major offerings. So get together with another Snob in your area who will be available and can order for you.....

Has worked really well for the two of us.

                  one small problem.

At the moment, when you go to the bean bay and click on a sponsors link, you get an error. For example, if you want to click on Barazi, you get:

                  http://beanbay.coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1163931729
Which currently shows a "The page cannot be found" error.
                  rather than:
                  http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1163931729

I am sure this would not inconvenience anyone since we are all clever enough to go to the forums to find the right links. Just letting you know so the developer can neaten it up a bit. This may have been fixed by the time you read this.

By the way, I have found the bean bay site to work really well when I did my ordering. Thanks for all your great work.

                  Regards,
                  Fabcat

                    Thanks for the heads-up Fabcat.

Ill get onto that shortly (its always the little things that get missed in testing!)

You are correct too, the problem is that we moved BeanBay
                    from:
                    http://coffeesnobs.com.au/beanbay
                    to:
                    http://beanbay.coffeesnobs.com.au

                    Glad the rest worked well.

                    ==== edit 10 minutes later ====
                    Fixed.
I also love those little missed gotchas, easy to remedy.

Another big day in the CoffeeSnobs history page for sure.

I have just processed all the PayPal payments so those members that used PayPal should see the status of their "Previous Orders" changed in BeanBay.

They will also see the FairCrack donation has been added to the grand total and their personal total in the FairCrack tab of BeanBay.

Its nice to have it all work so smoothly.

AARG! Away from the computer for a few days. Check whats happening to see when I can replenish some beans as I havent purchased for a few months, and Bean Bay has happened and all the beans I would have wanted are gone!
Oh well... Theres always next month.

is it possible to add to an order once confirmed?

I just want to add another 500g bag of roasted coffee and it will still be under 5kg so I shouldnt have to pay any extra postage... just the $15 for the coffee.

                              Can you confirm??

I used to sit back and laugh at the people complaining about missing out  ;D

That was until today when I missed out

                                Andy

Just asking a question which I feel may have been answered previously but atm it espcapes me; with BeanBays proven track record of sales, why dont you buy more green beans? Surely they would sell? It would mean more money for Faircrack and less whining from guys like me. Its a win win situation

Apologies if there is a really logical reason not to, ie not available from broker etc
