  • Re: BeanBay - June

    Hi all

Congratulations to all involved in setting up and running this BeanBay thing. Its the first time I have seen this and it was very easy to use. I bought 2.5 kg of the Sidamo and the Sulawesi green beans. The integration with PayPal is excellent. I was really amazed to hit reload and see the quantities decreasing. I had no idea how fast this stuff moves.
So to all of you involved, thanks. It works very nicely.

Brilliant operation. I was one of the first continually hitting the reload to check for beans and I was rewarded with a bag of the Rwandan Cyangugu along with a decent serving of Guatamalan and Peruvian and some Sumatran to round things off. Theme this month was chocolate and sweetness.... actually thats the theme every month.

        All bought and paid for.

        Cheers,

        Mark.

I sat in the green bean room and just kept hitting refresh, and then WOW! twas awesome.

Well done Andy! [smiley=thumbsup.gif] It was excellent.

I bought a bag of Sulawesi, because I couldnt make up my mind between it and the Malabar. So if anybody that comes to the pickup at Lucas I am happy to swap some of the Sulawesi for some of the Indian.

BeanBay worked great. No errors and very fast for me.
Well done and thanks for all of the effort in getting it up and running.

I wanted to add that 1kg bags would suit me better also. I buy many more beans than I can get through just because I am interested in trying the different varieties. My cupboard is full but I keep on buying anyway. 1kg bags would mean that I could purchase more varieties and maybe help my growing storage problem. Actually, I dont think that my storage problem will improve...but I would get to try more varieties for the same price.

The problem with less than 2.5Kg is it would make a lot more work for Andy.... and he does heaps already for little return....

So if he started supplying 1Kg I would imagine he (like most other sellers of green beans) would have to charge quite a bit more per kilo for the additional packing and handling.

BeanBay is more like a wholesale outlet (just look at the prices ) and as such it is reasonable there is a minimum quantity per item.

And because green beans keep so long (with no degradation) the only issue is that of staorage space... which is starting to be a problem for me

Milly - I am not sure where you are, however if you elect to go to one of the pick up days and discuss it in the forum for it you may be able to swap. I have found though - that you will go through a kilo very quickly and it takes 3 or 4 trial roasts to get it the right roast for the particular variety of bean.

I have bought 1kg of greens and regretted it when I have run out.

Edit: Invoice received and all beans paid for. Thanks Andy.

I agree by especially as someone starting out. 2.5kg is a good amount to get a feel for a bean and then have plenty left to enjoy. It takes a few roast to really get a taste for it as an so. once youve done that you can think of blending. as for storage, I have a box under the bed thats getting full. I think after today ill have about 23kg.

Well done guys - a nice smooth beanbay.

Well, I went from buying nothing to maybe trying some of the Peru .... to getting 5kg of the Guatemalan and 2.5kg of the Peru.

I am starting to run out of storage area also!!

                      ;D

I see the problem with NO BEANS at 12......the coputer clock isnt synced with world time and is about 3 or 4 minutes behind....hence no beans when people logged in after the REAL 12..

Ahhhhhhh &*^% I forgot to add the flamin card to my order - slaps forehead really hard

I just created a new order for just the card - hope thats OK.

Really smooth order process. I nearly forgot the whole beanbay thing. Luckily I browse often.

                            Well done to all involved.

I did the same matt. For those people who have missed out on anything I can recomment the Peru segunda. Those of us who got it in starter packs really enjoyed it.

It is a dirty little bean but roasts up beautifully.
