    Hi Andy,

Im not complaining but just wanted to let you know that I had a bit of trouble logging in last night. I tried for over an hour (my wrists are a bit sore now, but small price to pay for beans)... anyway, I finally got through by logging on for keeps, I normally do my login for 1 - 3 hours.... Regardless I managed to snag 7.5 kg of beans of different varieties, 2 old favorites and 1 new one.... did miss out on the Indian Darjeeling Tea though, so if theres anyone picking up from Sparkys in Brissy wants to share their haul, I wont say no!!

Again not complaining just wanted to let you know in case there is a gliche you can fix... Im very happy with what I got (beans are beans better some than none!!!)... So many thanks for the hard work and effort you put into this.

Have to admit I was thinking along the same lines as Miles post above.
Especially for the beans that we know there might be a high demand for and/or there are smaller quantities available.
The first hour option maybe bit difficult however but maybe just limiting purchases to 5kgs for the high demand beans might mean more people get a chance.

However I am more than happy with the way it works at present.
Thanks muchly for all your efforts Andy

Andy - thanks for the Beanbay mate. I must admit to forgetting until about 11.00pm or so (absurd I know) and then I jumped on to be pleasantly surprised with a 3 types left. It maybee that as a relatively new roaster I am not keen to get particular types - but to me just getting these sourced greans at the price you provide them for is fantastic.

          Good on ya mate.

          Cheers

I think that it is not always apparent what is going to be on high demand. Some months might be predictable, whilst other months particular beans sell a lot faster than they have in previous bean bays.

I think to constantly try to evaluate what is popular for that month is impractical and some times impossible as I believe Andy is still sometimes sourcing beans right up to deaths knock to get the beans available for that months takings and does not have the time to try and source a poll on who wants what.

Damn i woulda loved some PNG, was a bit weird as the usual chat and mumblings was not really about PNG (moreso the Yemen), so i didnt think it would be a bolter... haha
i was on at 9:00 and refreshing etc etc, but i think it was gone by 9:01 ...

Luckily i was after some ethiopians too.... and then i grabbed some of the Bali because i enjoyed that last time as a good base.

Really do love my PNG though... :-(

                Cheers

I missed out on the PNG as well and as you mentioned above, a lot of the mumblings were about another bean and not the PNG, so this is what I was saying in my previous post.  Sometimes the beans that sell the quickest are not always the ones that seem to be the most talked about for that month.

Im with you KoNG I grabbed other beans and will enjoy them for what they are. and maybe pick up some PBG another time.

Didnt buy any this time round as I got enough last month to cover my needs for a little while...
...which is the exact the problem, we dont ever really know what the volume of beans will be.

Limit purchases to 1 x 2.5 kg of each bean (or choc, tea etc) for the first hour, and then let everyone loose on whats left over.
I agree we might have to look at that or similar "funnel" to share it around a little. The cocao and tea were very small quantities and were always going to go in a short time. The Yemen and the PNG would have lasted longer if trickle fed and we had large quantities of the others.

We will look at this idea some more though.

Hmmm... first I have heard of that so I can only guess its a quirk at your end. The logon uses cookies and if your browser (or antivirus/internet security software etc) is doing something "clever" it might give you grief.

I would suggest starting an off topic thread with details on the software you are running and maybe another CSr can offer some ideas on a fix.

                      PNG Kinjibi Peaberry
Im optimistic that we can reserve some more of the PNG from that same crop for the next BeanBay and should hear from the broker sometime today but we wont see the Yemen again in a hurry.

Thats just absolutely PHENOMENAL that alllll those kilos (what 150kg or more) of Yemen and PNG got swallowed up by about 9:02. My family was absolutely gobsmacked hearing that. Has that kind of mass frenzy happened before?

Andy, just out of pure curiosty...
for the PNG was there a couple of rather "large" purchases (say >25kg).. that made it dissapear so quickly.?

150 kilos spread around the croud on beanbay last night was quite a task, if there was a 150 snobs on then that only equates to 1 kilo each so in real terms if 60 people took the minimum order of 2 1/2 kilos then its simply all gone....... I see its the age old problem of supply and demand, first in first serve and the early bird gets the worm.

No one can possibly know what is going to fly out the door and what isnt.

                            Ray.

                              I have a solution!  I always have a solution : ...

Hazchem - become a sponsor and run training courses on how to buy beans on beanbay. I think youd have a lot of takers! ;D

Oh, and Sarg...no sweat...I think its good for people to see how I have grown as a Coffeesnob, even though my post back then was never intended as a complaint.

I told my partner Sue about something particularly nice that happened for me in the aftermath of the beanbay last night - a very big gesture of kindness that I will keep private. Sue commented something along the lines of, "in this world where we often live such insular lives, and often warned of the dangers of the internet, the CS site is exceptional. It is a real community." And this from a person who predominantly drinks tea!

TD, I am sorry you were disapointed but get over it, really. Is it a matter of life and death if you miss out on what you really wanted? Seriously mate, on a scale of one to ten of lifes priorities it isnt on the scale.
;D ;D For something that isnt a matter of "life and death" you sure didnt muck around getting your order in quick smart though!!! (just stirring haha)

Look, I understand that the beanbay thing on CS is there for the benefit of the CS community and I do genuinely appreciate that as well as the good prices etc. My only gripe is that I have seriously been waiting to buy some PNG for months and months (I have even emailed Andy about it from time to time). Im sure you can understand my reaction whan I logged on just six minutes after beanbay opened to find "sold out" under PNG... Like KoNG, PNG has fast become one of my favourites, and out of the beans on offer this time it was the only one I was interested in.

Good to hear some more PNG may become available soon. But this time I dont think I will have my hopes up so high...
