Re: GREEN BeanBay - Wednesday 20th Feb.

Withdraw the offer, Remy, otherwise youre going to roast a batch, have a couple of cups and realise that its a coffee that you really, really love. Problem will be that youve given half of it away and now youre stuck spinning the remaining beans out until they appear in beanbay again. If you decide that you dont really like a particular bean and cant come up with a blend to use it in, that will be the time to offer the beans to someone else.

Got some Malabar and Kappi Royale - thanks for the robusta, missed the last one so been hanging to get a batch to sit on and it looks great so yeah, cheers!

Can I just add 5% pre-roast or does it really need a separate roast?

        Thanks again Andy!

As much as I would really love to keep it all,. darling hubby who has absolutely no appreciation for quality coffee would be far from thrilled when I haul 10kg of green beans into the house and answer his question of how much I spent. You and I know their real worth,..but my hubby...hes not a coffee drinker and coverting him over is going to take some time...if ever. Hes a hard nut to crack and may be too old to change now hee hee. If I were to keep it all,.. I really would have to hide it in my walk in robe to avoid conflict and the start of beverage war in this house. :.... hmmm wonder if I can store it someone elses house....narr...get a grip.

            Remy,

You may want to use the tactic of explaining how much youre SAVING in buying so much green. And the more you buy...etc..

Also, this is the only place you can get it where the quality is so good and you wont have to waste any by tossing out bad batches...

And it only comes around once a month...what if you miss out next month and you run out? Youll have to start buying expensive brown beans again.

Umm... you know where Im going.. Not that Ive used these excuses (I mean reasons) before... :-/

Thanks Andy for the big Bean Bay haul. You must have them piled up to the roof.

              Still plenty left this morning.

I just went back in and got another bag (Kenya A) to go with my Indian Mysore and Monsoon buys at 9.02 last night. (I think I talked myself into it with my list of justifications to Remy! ;D How did that happen? "Hi, my name is Greg and Im a coffeeholic." )

Hope thats OK Andy. Must be a logistical pain in the @ the day after Bean Bays.

              Cheers.

Re: GREEN BeanBay - Wednesday 20th Feb.

Whaahahaaa,.. yes I have thought of all of these excuses reasons that I can explain to hubby,.. why I even practiced some of those reasons on my children last night right after my purchase. I was forced to explain my excited behaviour and why I told the kids to leave me alone and not to even talk to me between 8:45 and 9:15 last night.  But sadly it didnt really wash with them,..even my eldest (15yr old daughter) who is into coffee and loves the lattes I make for her,.looked at me like I had grown horns when I said  "whoot! I just bought 10kg of green beans".  With one eyebrow raised and her top lip that look like it was being pulled up towards the corner of the room by invisible thread,.."you bought how much???  10kg of green beans!!??? then,.. "Mum,.. you never do anything by halves do you?"   gees it felt like I was being severely chastised  :-?,..the tables were turned and I was the naughty child for a minute.. ack. So I back-pedalled fast and pulled out every reason under the sun for my bad behaviour,.. but failed miserably.  There is just no way hubby will buy it if I cant even get it past the kids.

Re: GREEN BeanBay - Wednesday 20th Feb.

The only reason you really need is in the cup. If you enjoy your roasts now, things will only get better.

We probably have about 80kg of various greens on hand.

I still bought 5kg of Indian Mysore, because I know we like it.

So Remy, you can tell your daughter that you are not yet amongst the most obsessed green bean buyers - but you can see us from where you are standing ;-)

Oh yeaaahhhhh! I never used that angle to convince her that Im still her mum and still functioning ok. Ill tell her that there are people on this forum that have over 85kg of green bean stashed amongst their undies in their walk-in-robes, in their laundry cupboards, pantries, hand crafted purpose-built chests. Im sure that will comfort her. Phhhrrrrrt! OMG on second thoughts.....maybe not :-/ :-X

Hmm.... yeah I can see the shoes and outfits analogy working ok as long as I get the wording right. That would see the girls buying my story. The boy?..a computer games analogy,..perfect! and hubby um...cars? nope, beer? nope, sport on TV/foxtel yeeeaaaah! thats it. Thanks for the idea, we all have our loves/interests... coffee is mine.
