Re: CoffeeSnobs News and GREEN BeanBay - 17th June
My first Bean Bay in a couple of years. All I can say is...FAST.
I love my coffee, but love puerh and Darjeeling even more, which means I may go a whole week without a coffee. Weird, I know, for a CS.
Nonetheless, Im down to my last couple of bags of Mandheling, so Ill have to upskill on my Beanbaying. Wont forget to hit that refresh button, even when hope seems gone. I always say: A home without a bag of Mandheling is not a real home.
I bought the cocoa this time. It just so hard to get good cocoa powder. Woolies generic is about the best I can find easily: at least its dark, unscented and sweaty with reasonable bitterness. Most cocoa in Oz seems to be apologising for itself. Anyway, fingers crossed that the African Red is the real deal. If it is, Ill be drinking it neat.

Re: CoffeeSnobs News and GREEN BeanBay - 17th June
Also my 1st bean bay. Thought I might just observe what everyone was doing by looking at how fast certain beans were being snaffled up.
Got caught up in the "feeding frenzy" and found I couldnt resist - next thing I know I have bought 15kg of various beans and 1kg of the chocolate.
Dont even own a roaster yet - ;D
;D
Looks like I will be adding a few more pieces of hardware to my collection - and build myself a "Belinda Special" aka corretto.
Now to break it gently to my NON-coffee drinking wife who has been very patient and supportive :-[ in my coffee adventure so far
Thanks Andy for an "interesting" experience.

Re: CoffeeSnobs News and GREEN BeanBay - 17th June
Beans can go up in amount if someone reviews their basket & puts some beans back.
Scored some Malabar & some decaf. Gotta be quick all right.
Cheers all....................Sean

Yes, the Wahgi coming back from the dead - I presume about 15 people changed their mind so the beans came back in circulation. Some Yirg did the same. I guess it shows you should keep refreshing the page before giving up. The system encourages people to grab a whole stash of beans in their basket where it is safe and then make a final decision about how much they really want to buy so discarding some before checkout.
I had my game plan worked out predicting the Yirg would go quickly so grabbed that first then over to the potent chocolate and finally a kg of tea. An interesting mixed bag.

Re: CoffeeSnobs News and GREEN BeanBay - 17th June
Very interesting!
That was my first Bean Bay... almost missed everything though.
I only wanted a little Wahgi, but it sold out in (according to my computer clock) under 90 seconds.
So I consoled myself with some Monsoon Malabar and Cocoa and was about to declare my Bean Baying over (at 9:05!!) when my wife suggested hitting refresh! I did, and Andy magically supplied us with some secret Wahgi hed obviously hidden away somewhere... So I got my Wahgi after all.
Onya Andy!
Mysteriously, the Wahgi has slowly been going UP in amount available. Any ideas why, anyone?
Cheers
Stuart.
