Re: CoffeeSnobs News and GREEN BeanBay - 22nd July

    Hi all
(well those that drink too much coffee and are still awake)

I had to work tonight so sadly wasnt about for the fun.  I got home a couple of hours ago and have just got though my email "to dos".

Can I please ask if everyone could be a little more careful when they get to the last button in BeanBay?  [Place Order]

All your order information is on the screen at that point, your shipping address, your order and how you want it shipped.  When you hit [Place Order], change your mind and send me an email not only does it take me 10-20 minutes of email replies it also takes around 30 mintues of dangerous live database edits on a web server a long way from home.  Multiply that by a dozen people and watch the site admin get cranky!

A few extra seconds of reading makes all the difference to my small amount of spare (sanity) time.

I joked with someone tonight that I might make as series of buttons... like maybe 10 of them that say...

are you sure?, are you sure you are sure?, is that really your shipping address?, do you really want it shipped by elephant?

...I would prefer not to annoy everyone with a dozen dumb confirmation buttons.

Plan B is is just to delete any order that has an error and if they can get the beans back out of BeanBay before someone else then good luck.

The best bet would just be a dose of extra care please.

    Fast Yirg?
I really think that people need to use the wishing-well a little more.  If we knew that the demand for the Yirg was that high and the demand for the Yemen less we could have purchased 2 more bags of Yirg last month when I placed the order and one less of the Yemen (although getting stuck with some extra Yemen is not a problem I mind)

I still think that the volumes and varieties are pretty close to correct even though they went really fast most people managed to get just what they were after.

Enjoy your coffee CSrs, there are some rippers in there again this month.

    A.

Wow! Im really surprised to see so much Yemen Ismaili still available... This stuff would normally fly out of BeanBay in a flash. If my finances hold up this week, might just have to lash out....

Andy, thanks for a great BeanBay!! I cant believe the Yirg went in a matter of seconds!

I was lucky enough to score myself some Yirg, Mexican and Cocoa. I learnt my lesson from the previous beanbay.

    Cant wait for next Saturday!

    Happy camper here
I did not get home from work until 9.30pm
    Missed out on the Yirg
Scored my first kg of Chocolate from Bean Bay
    Some Indian Monsoon
And I got the last 2.5 kg of Mexican

    Many peaceful roasting days ahead

Plus a search in cupping and blends posts to see what are good single origin or blends

I looked at the amount of the Robusta available and it was less than the Yirg, so I got the Robusta first. I still managed to get some Yirg, though it sounds like I was lucky!

    Cheers

Got what I wanted .... phew. I have fast ADSL2+ and clicked "reload" every 20 seconds starting at a couple of minutes to nine. I reckon that people on dial-up dont have much of a chance.

    Thanks Andy.

My computer froze for a bit and the screen went black.
Luckily I had clicked on the yirg "go" button just before this happened and the beans were in my basket when everything came good.
Went back for the Mexican and the Yirg was gone.
    Gee, that was quick!
Its the quick and the beanless around here.
    Great selection on offer.
Thanks Andy for another great Bean Bay.

Yep, system seemed really slow. Mustve been from so many people buying at the same time. Anyway, I still got some Yirg and Yemen, so alls good.

Went to buy some yirg and the computer froze for a minute, then when it came back up it was all gone, must have been a glitch in the system or just that many people buying at once slowed the system down.
Got some Mexican and some Yemen Bani ismaili.

Not surprising. Yirg is high on many people hoarding list, including mine :
