Re: CoffeeSnobs News and GREEN BeanBay - 22nd July
Well, not really. No-one said that anyone was *trying* to be confusing. Just that an extra line of info wouldnt hurt. This would be purely for the benefit of first-time beanbayers. Everyone else knows anyway.
A polite well-meant suggestion should not be construed as criticism, surely.

I dont think anyone said it was criticism.
My personal take on suggestions of this kind is that sometimes they go too far.
I think whats there is clear enough, but did go along with the idea and suggest exactly where the enhancement could go.
Re: CoffeeSnobs News and GREEN BeanBay - 22nd July
I’m guilty of making assumptions of quite a few things in CS mostly because we have been doing it for so long and it just "seems normal". There has certainly never been any intention of misleading members by quoting a per kilo rate and then only selling in 2.5kg bags. I’ll try to remember to state on the email the bag sizes in future.
Over the years we have tried all sorts of packaging sizes, in the early days we had 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 5 kilo lots and it was nightmare to manage not to mention the fact that I hand sewed all our cotton bags to suit. The 2.5kg bags mean that we have one size cotton bag, 2 of these fit into a 5kg Express satchel and the price for 2.5kg of most of the specialty coffee green beans we have on offer is equal to about a kilo of stale supermarket coffee. It really is the best wholesale size that works best for a lot of financial and logistic reasons.
It doesn’t happen very often but when we offer a bean that is over $25 per kilo we pack it in 1kg lots. We also pack tea in 1kg lots both because of price and sheer volume.
Re: CoffeeSnobs News and GREEN BeanBay - 22nd July
Thanks for some very passionate and well worded responses. As indicated at the start of my post I thought this might have been covered off many times before and in hindsight a PM might have been better placed. Having said that I like what Mal wrote with respect to CSers who live relatively close to each other swapping beans.
Should anyone in the Bayside area of Melbourne be more than happy to swap 1kg of Mexican for 1kg of Yirg Ill be more than interested. My post was motivated only by desire to try a range of greens from around the world & Mals suggestion is perfect to do just that and meet plenty of fellow CSers in the process.

hi guys, is it a technical bug or are all the green beans sold out?
Hi Ezra,
No bug there. Beanbay green opens for a few short days each month and then closes...Get caught dozing and you miss out.
This enables Andy to manage the logistics of sourcing, bagging, selling and shipping a truckload of beans all around the country. Its just like having two full-time jobs and a family. Actually, he does have two full time jobs and a family...
The key info is posted as a sticky item in this section of the forum: http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1111152844. Its worth reading....
