    Hi Oily

Just repeat after me "the coffee beans in the clothes cupboard act as an insect repellant" ....

After a few times youll be able to rattle that off with an air of expertise and authority which will ease your conscience.

Thanks Andy, I too appreciate the notes on the beans in advance.

I dont really need any more beans just yet, but naturally I want to try more varieties. If Im going to be led into temptation to buy more beans (how could I not?), Id rather have time to read about and digest what Im being tempted to buy, rather than buy them in a rush.

If I can convince myself the purchases were carefully considered, not rushed, it might ease my conscience about the clothes cupboard being taken over by bean sacks!

The size of the tiger mountain county co-op is massive, meaning the end result is  a cross section/bending of many houndreds of individual farms.  In recent years ive found the tiger mountain to yield very inconsistant bags of coffee but the latest batches seem to be okay.
Which is why we didnt have the Tiger for a long while. When you say latest batches what do you mean?

This one was still on a boat 2 weeks ago and CS is the first buyer!

Soo...is there plenty of stock this time or will it be another frenzy feeding? hmm? hmm?
The amount available is the perfect amount, its the buyers that are the unknown variable!

If you miss out on something you wanted Im sure there will be something else great available that you will enjoy too.  Dont get too hung-up on one bean and you wont be disappointed.

A question regarding the Indian Tiger Mountain A. The only Indian coffee beans Ive had so far are Monsoon Malabar, and they are my favourite. Is the Tiger Mountain similar ? The description says "smooth and viscous" which the Monsoon Malabar certainly was (just finished the last batch I had).

Nothing on the planet is like monsooned coffee unless its other monsooned coffee.

It really depends why the monsooned is your favourite coffee, if its low acid and good body then...

The Tiger is a clean well graded bean that is easy to roast and produces a smooth viscous low acid espresso, the Peru Grace is very similar in style.  These two would be the closest to the monsoon process but understand that every bean is different, which is the fun part of being a CoffeeSnob!

(oops, sorry for the double-up Fatboy... I type slow!)

Indian Tiger Mountain is really nothing like the Monsooned Malabar.
Monsooned beans are purposely exposed to the elements.
They take on a light brown appearance, expand in size (moisture gets absorbed) and they often have a unique look to them.
They are quite a different kind of bean.
Indian Tiger Mountain is an arabica bean from what I think is a co-op kind of area. It is one of my personal favourites, but its not really similar to malabar in taste or look (in my opinion anyway).

A great selection again Andy. It will be hard to resist and Im running out of storage space. Big dilemma.
Thanks for the notes too Andy. Really great, and appreciate having them before BB.

    Cheers,
    Alan

See wishing well does work Ill be up for some Peru Grace Estate. Now if Brett ( Fatboy) can hand out some more cheese at pick up, Ill be able to get the missus to pick it up again.
Im only guessing it was Brett from my wifes discription, so please forgive me if Im wrong.

For a first time roaster the Peru Grace is a winner. It works across a wide range of roast levels and has loud cracks.
Then again the PNG and the Indian tiger mountain arent too tricky either.

Hi, im about to roast for the first time.

Any suggestions on what beans to try? Something forgiving and easy to roast.
