    Re: BeanBay GREEN - 14:00 Tuesday 16th Sept 2008

    tame... civilised... polite?

Could we really be talking about BeanBay?!?!?

Hope those that couldnt make it this afternoon stil have a few to choose from
We have half a tonne of beans still on offer an hour after the start so I think most everyone will get a shot at something they like.

maybe a day offering and then a second offering that night?
Hmmm... I dont think so. I did ponder holding some stock back till tonight but the gotcha there is I will endup with 50 email requests to add this to that order, to ignore the freight option, to swap this type for that type etc etc.... too much work and too easy to oops!

Other sellers Ive used might only stock one type of Ethiopian, in a range that remains fairly static.
I think that shows my own flavour bias more than anything, you are just lucky your taste is similar!

what makes it worse is I would love at least 4 of the beans on beanbay
    Only 4 of the beans?
I think you need to count again because I know they are all good.

Ben I have 120kg, try use that for justification.
I just dont count. Well that and the fact that I hide them at the Snobbery so the missus cannot see em.

Thanks beanflying for posting the wiki link.

It lists 56 different bean origins which have been sold here at some time, and not all are included. Hats off to Andy for offering us such great diversity, over time.

The range of bean origins taking over my clothes cupboard looks narrow by comparison, so I suppose Ill just have to keep buying more.

this really sucks. Lots of beans and I have been BANNED from buying more. Trying to justify the stash is hard enough when it is sitting over 20kg and what makes it worse is I would love at least 4 of the beans on beanbay

I will have to just sit and watch others go wild
Just got back from a meeting and see theres heaps of beans left.

Time to sell my brand new unused Breville Pronto Turbo roaster. $100 + post anyone before it hits ferralbay?

As has bean (had to) said by everyone else, was that not the most civilised beanbay ever. I even had time to go back and change all of my amounts from 5 to 7.5kgs. Thinking now thats not nearly enough. What if one of them is the best thing ive tasted? Oh no..........
Anyway, got some of the India which i missed out on last time, so alls good. Thanks Andy.

i tried that "other people have like 120kgs" and I got the response "you are not other people" and then "wheres my bling"

Was there a "please take a ticket button" somewhere on the page that I missed? So orderly! I actually picked up some of the Ipanema about an hour after the start, probably just as it fell out of someones basket.

Looking forward to maybe catching up with some Brisbane folk at Veneziano at West End.

                    Cheers

                      Re: BeanBay GREEN - 14:00 Tuesday 16th Sept 2008

I had to take my daughter to work (after school care) and my order in my basket vanished
As luck would have it I found after checking the green bean page that a lot of green availability bars on most of my lost beans (must have gone back in stock along with some changed orders from other CS members)
So I placed my order again slightly changed but still happy

After a chat with Andy he indicated that the "My Basket" is only active for aprox 20 min ? or so (if I caught it right)
                      Thanks for clarifying it Andy

Anyway this post is a heads up "not to leave my basket to long before processing the sale"

Its a feature that has always been in BeanBay. It stops someone from sitting on a pile of beans without buying them. I guess you didnt see it before because you were in and out without too much lag.

At the top of "My Basket" it says in a yellow box:

NOTE: If you leave items in your basket and do not visit a BeanBay page (forum pages do not count!) for 30 minutes, your basket will be automatically emptied!

Im glad you had a choice of beans and didnt missout though!
(and I guess your daughter is glad too)

I heard from Peter that they plan on being open 7 days a week down the track... so that will be handy for scheduling get togethers too.

There is this one but I dont think it has been updated for a while http://wiki.coffeesnobs.com.au/defau...nBayBeans.html

And sorry I dont have the time or the knowledge to keep it upgraded.

                            Coffeesnobs has a wiki!

Nice. Should have a link somewhere to it from the main site IMO.

I eventually gave in - this 2pm beanbay gives too much time to contemplate!!!

ordered and paid for Limmu, Panama and Nicaragua - I could easily justify spending 70 dollars because I can get to the pickup this month which save 10 dollars. Clear business case.

I found it in a really old thread while trawling around for bean type info for my newbie brain.

It would be great to get 2 or 3 of the more experienced home roasters to add some of the more recent bean bay info and types to the list even if it was just adding Andys notes each month would be fine for basic info.
