    Re: BeanBay GREEN - 21:00 Thursday 16th Oct 2008

I got some of the PNG peaberry; after trying some from last beanbay I am really enjoying it in the cup. Had one of the best coffees I have ever had today with it.

And after finishing off some Kenyan I had earlier in the month, which I initially wasnt all that impressed with but have since revised that opinion I got some of the Rititi to try.

As always, a smooth process. Thanks Andy.

PNG Jiwaka Peaberry sold out first at about 9:01:30

      EDIT @ 9:03 - 2.5kg are back.  :-?

I know I got it to add to some from last month ;D I thought I won the roulette then another 5kg reappeared

Apart from the Peaberry BB was very civilised again not to much pushing and shoving

            Re: BeanBay GREEN - 21:00 Thursday 16th Oct 2008

Ive been watching this with enthusiam, as Ive decided to give roasting a good crack

Having picked up a kilo of Kenya AA probably early this year, I had it sit in my cupboard until last month. Im quite the procrastinator, and it wasnt until I was out of coffee and fast running out of money that I decided to roast it up in my popcorn maker.

It was such a new experience.
Is this second crack now? Or is this first crack? Should I pull them out now? Whats this smoke? were among the many things running through my mind while roasting. After about 6 minutes I decided to pull them out, and I had in front of my first home roasted coffee beans! They were about CS 14 if there were such a number.

With my second roast came drinkable beans, and the excitement went up from there!

So, eager to play with more beans, and play with different roasting methods, bean bay has come at the right time!
Picked 4 varieties to play with (Yirg, MM, Peaberry and Kenya Rititi) .. Cant wait to see how things go!

Actually, I think 7.5kg appeared and I quickly took 2.5kg of it, so I didnt win either!

Boosted my stocks a little on this beanbay, got 2.5 of yirg, 5 of MM and 2.5 of the kenyan as well.

What was with the dark horse entry Columbian, which wasnt mentioned in the email? It seemed to be sitting around for a while when I checked...

We had been waiting on this one... the little broker that we get the Volcan Galeras from is a bugger to get stock out. It arrived two weeks late (yesterday afternoon) so it never made the email... but we spent last night bagging it so it could go out in this BeanBay.

This sort of stuff happens all the time but mostly CSrs dont know about the freight grief behind the scenes. Lucky for the broker its great coffee else I wouldnt use em.

Thank you, Andy (and family). Received my fix, er... I mean, beans.

(Well, my wife acknowledges there are certainly worse things I could be hooked on. ;D)

                          Happy for another month.
