Ta - did all that on the day I joined, but I havent ever received any emails re BeanBays, etc apart from when Andys emailed me specifically in regards to BeanBay Pickup Points, etc (ie; personal emails, rather than group emails).

I must be missing the secret CS handshake ;D

        Now back to the coffee...

5kg of Sulawesi for me! I only hope to goodness I can roast it even slightly as good as Andy does because its definitely one of my fave brown beans.

Perhaps sending people a message through CS instead of an email would help
1000s of PM replies after I send 7500 of them sounds like a chore... email is becoming a big enough workload (time sponge) now.

Maybe I will just post it on the forum and forget about email altogether.

Time will tell, I will always post it on the forum so that is the first place to check.

How do you get on the email list?
Everyone is on the email list. The email is sent to the address in [UserCP]. Last night we had two problems, one was the spam engines at some ISPs and the second was that we had a new user that used some dodgy punctuation in their display name (which caused the mail server to cough). I checked with a couple of members after him and they got theirs so I guessed it was sent to everyone.

Ill check the logs to see what happened to yours tonight (for interest).

          Ah shucks **blush** thanks.
tis great coffee and its pretty easy to roast because its so well graded, you will roast it with your eyes closed.

              Im troubleshooting the monthly emails...

It seems that gmail (and ISPs that are using gmail) along with yahoo are seeing lots of mail from us in a short time and are stopping mail going though (assuming we are a spammer).

For the curiosity of those geeky ones here...
We do have a valid SPF record and all the email is sent from the correct server in text format with no mention of Russian brides or Viagra.
              :

Its frustrating when mail server administrators block real mail.
              Gday Andy,

Just FWIW, I havent received the last 3 beanbay announcements. October was the last to get through.  I think Feb hasnt attempted delivery here yet as there is nothing logged on the mail server.

The mail server for my domain sits about six feet behind me - its a Small Business Server running exchange 2003.

Id suggest that as long as youre not that fussed about Sender ID, you disable the record rather than leave the softfail in there.  A number of mail servers for some reason are confused about softfail as it is deprecated since SPF went live big time 5 or so years ago.
Alternatly just change that ~all to -all if youre serious about killing forged mail.

              Just a suggestion.

              Regards
              Graham.

PS Just noticed that fabcat made a smilar suggestion - thatll teach me to read the whole thread before posting

                  ...or just stop sending emails!

we send 7000+ emails once a month and 1000s get there, some dont. Ill fiddle to try and get more to arrive but the gotcha is that I can only test it once a month when we send to everyone. I dont want to annoy everyone with "this is a test" type messages.

Anyhows... at535 is right, enough nerdy banter in the BeanBay thread!

Hooly Dooly - Obviously Im not the only fan of Sulawesi! [smiley=shocked.gif] Glad I got in early...took about 8.5 minutes for it to be sold out!

And a beautiful teal green Snobbery shirt heading my way to match my beans...

                            Cheers

Is that a similar roasting profile like the Yemen?....

Thanks Andy for an awesome Beanbay again! See you next week at the usual hang out ;D
