People with email accounts think that when they change them, forget them etc that by some miracle you know this . When we send out bulk emails ie > 10000 you should see the bounce list. Its a fulltime job chasing them up, when contacted they generally seem suprised that you didnt know that the had moved countries / states, changed jobs and by the way had a new email address :

You need a good sense of humour, ;D

If a member hadnt used the
site for, lets say a year, you could delete their account. Just a thought.

Yeah, we could do something like that but I then fear that Ill spend the next 6 months of my life answering emails explaining why they couldnt log in.


I think most of the problems are from people using their "disposable email addresses", the sort you use on a dodgy internet site that is going to on-sell your information.

Of course, thats not us! We dont share user information with anyone and never will.

For the curiosity of those geeky ones here...
We do have a valid SPF record and all the email is sent from the correct server in text format with no mention of Russian brides or Viagra.

Not much can be done, if you send bulk emails out they generally get marked as spam, when you consider that 90% of email traffic is spam, filters have a natural suspicion that you are up to no good > Free email services tend to be harder than most providers for obvious reasons. Attempting to get providers ie gmail etc to treat you better usually doesnt work. We send bulk emails out daily and they are all marked as possible spam by filters. It is only going to get worse in the future

Just like to say Bigpond email is great. I havent had any trouble with receiveing emials posts etc.

This would be the best/easiest web site/forum I have used. Well done guys.

Andy just a question in regards to return emails. Is there something you guys have in place
to monitor CS members in relation to how often they log in or use the site. If a member hadnt used the
site for, lets say a year, you could delete their account. Just a thought.

Thanks JavaB,
the first pile go through without a problem (I guess yours was in that lot), its only after some magic number is reached that yahoo seem to throttle our sending mail server.

Most seem to eventually go through although they are retried 6-12 times before they do (which is a whole lot of unneeded noise on the sever and ether!).

I just connected to the mail server and I can see a 200 odd Yahoo and 400 gmail still in the queue... it might clear by morning.

I also get a mile of "user over quota", "Im on holidays" and "I dont work here anymore" auto replies each month.

For those that didnt get an email it might be worth checking that on you end too.

Im troubleshooting the monthly emails...

It seems that gmail (and ISPs that are using gmail) along with yahoo are seeing lots of mail from us in a short time and are stopping mail going though (assuming we are a spammer).

Its frustrating when mail server administrators block real mail.

So, punchline is, if you didnt get an email about the BeanBay sale first check your spam filter, then check your ISP.

If you use gmail or yahoo it might be worth changing your email address in [UserCP] at the top of the forum to another email account.

Rwanda Karongi A  $9.50/kg*
Washed and well graded this coffee produces a mid to heavy bodied espresso shot, sweet, slightly spicy with great cocoa notes.  Works equally well as a single origin espresso and in milk based drinks.

Sulawesi Rante Kapua Torajah $10.50/kg*
This is the same grade, amazing Sulawesi coffee that has developed such a fond following in the roasted area of BeanBay.  We sample roasted nearly a dozen different 1st grade Torajah coffees before we found this stunner.  Strong bitter sweet dark chocolate flavours with a very good body.  Excellent as an espresso and works well in milk based drinks with a longer roast time and slightly darker roast depth.

Yemen Bani Ismail $22.50/kg*
This is a fairly well graded Yemen with a consistent small dense bean size, very few blacks but of course being a sun dried, dry process bean it still contains plenty of small rocks (please be careful!).  Roast this one long and slow although you can add a fair amount of heat prior to first crack. Expect a wild, earthy, viscous espresso in the cup with an aftertaste that lingers for an age or you can tame it a little by just using a percentage in a blend.

Papua New Guinea Wahgi AA $11.00/kg*
After the initial cloud of aroma off the grinder, this large, clean and very well graded bean produces a sweet, narrow mid/front palate espresso with excellent body at CS9 or roast it to a lighter CS8 for a brighter and more acidic style shot.

DECAF - Mocha Java $13.50/kg*
We roast this decaf at the Snobbery and noticed that the current batch is has a slightly lighter overall colour which made roasting it easier.  As a rule, the water processed decaf can be tricky to roast as you cannot use roast colour as a good indicator, so we still recommend stopping just shy of second crack for best results in the cup.

All green beans are packed into 2.5kg lots in CoffeeSnobs cotton bags.  These bags are perfect for storing your beans in a cool dark place for years.

Roasted beans and other BeanBay items can be shipped to the pickup points too.  Roasted orders will be roasted as close to the shipping day as we can to ensure you still get fresh roasted beans.

We do ask that anything bought in BeanBay is paid for the same day so it wont hold-up other CSrs orders.  Any pickup point order that isnt paid for when we freight the interstate beans will not ship and you will incur higher transport costs or the order will be cancelled.

The delivery date is a best guess as we are at the whim of couriers around the country.  When the beans arrive the pickup points will post in this thread to let you know details, times etc.
