Supplies have arrived - thanks Sue and Simon for your coordination here in WA - excellent.

Just had my first cup of the new Kanchenjunga SFTGFOP1 - fabo. Even better than the last lot of Kanchenjunga (and arrived in the nick of time - I was down to the last 50 grams of the old).

    Thanks Andy.

    Hey Alchemist,

    HUGE thankyou for your generosity
I didnt log in this morning before work, therefore I didnt see your offer and while I was out I dropped into a Crime Converters and sitting there on the shelf (prob from a B&E) was a shiny Breville BB290.  $35 later it was in the back of the van! Maybe hold on to it for another promising home roasternaught (wife calls me that now after the failed popper attempt- "Houston we have a problem")
    Thanks again for the offer

I was surprised by the bitterness of the Nicuraguan.Almost a robusta taste.
Hi Bob and welcome to CS!

FWIW, The only coffees Ive ever had that were bitter were due to the roast, the espresso machine, or the barista, and had nothing to do with the source or variety.  Maybe Ive just been lucky.
You are right! Bitternes is usually a defect tracked back to one of the human elements in the processing or the extraction... but in saying that I have never been very found of the Nicaraguan attributes as I find them pretty boring.
I was curious try this bean once I read this, so, I have just pulled a shot of this Nicaraguan 24hrs post and I can say that I tasted no bitterness what so ever. Now dont get me wrong, I still have a long way to go in understanding the flavours that can be tasted in a short black (shot of espresso), but I have tasted a bitter shot and this didnt have it.

the earl grey was damaged and smells/tastes alot like detergent
Doesnt sound like they damaged it enough then if that is how it still tastes. According to wikipedia, the tea is sometimes called "Old Stinky".

/nothing against the beanbay tea - just dont understand why people like that bergamot flavour.

Do we have a confirmed pickup time at Veneziano yet? Or do we all just pick up whenever suits us individually?

I understand the correto will roast a larger batch than the popper, but I was hoping to give it a crack with 100 grams incase I murder the greens
100g is too small a batch - theres more chance youll murder the beans.

Minimum I recommend is 300g to get started but preferably 600g after youve had a few goes.

    GDay Short Mac,

I have a Breville Big Loaf, twin paddle BM that has been hard-wired and is ready to go as a Corretto.  I originally bought this out of the Quokka to enable me to increase my roast capacity (but eventually decided on a twin Corretto set up), hence it has been sitting the garage doing nothing for over a year.

Its in excellent condition and yours if you want it - happy to help a fellow CS get home roasting

I work in the Perth CBD/live in Canning Vale.

    PM me if youre interested.

    Cheers,

    -A-
