    Real Coffee Pick Up NEWCASTLE

Just to let you guys know that the Beans arrived late on Friday - they are in the shop ready to be picked up.

I have been flat out in recent manths with busy businesses and the arrival of my fourth child - a daughter - Chloe. It tooks us 8 weeks to name her, just to illustrate how busy it has been.

I future I will try and inform you when the beans get in as they arrive.

    James

Veneziano is great. A different single origin and different blend on offer to try every day of the week.

    Their food is great too!

    Hi Snobs,

I picked up the CS order (blue mountain and double Dutch cocoa) from Veneziano Caffe in Brisbane today; the staff offered me a complementary coffee just because I was a coffee snob member. Of course I said yes, he asked if I wanted sugar.

I said that depends, if the coffees good no!  He proceeded to make me a cap. had a taste, I did not add sugar as it was superb.

    Thanks Veneziano

Went past other CC locations and numerous op shops managed to locate a Panasonic Bakehouse _ Ive got it on hold until I find out if it needs re-wiring etc. I would rather not have to do such things( i have my reasons) Ive got enough brown to keep me going for now. Might check out the markets this w/end and more garage sales.
Have you tried swap meets, you often see BMs there for a nominal amount. If you are SOR, Canning Vale markets on a sunday, Belmont swap meet etc..
    Good luck on your quest..

    Woohoo!
Picked up my beanbay goodies from caffeinefreak and had a look at their set-up. Very goodRaced home to organise my first roast, grabbed all that i needed, headed out to the shed, 17 deg ambient-check, plug in the popper-check, thermocouple & beans in-check, stopwatch/pen/paper/fan/sieve/colander-check, then.......I looked to the wife said "lets get ready to rumble" - turned on the popper, heard a slight pooft noise, shed went dark, wife said pfft! and went inside.
That is the funniest thing I have read for a long time!!!

Wishing you better luck for Rnd 2.

    Thanks GM...
I understand the correto will roast a larger batch than the popper, but I was hoping to give it a crack with 100 grams incase I murder the greens
I went past Crime Converters today where I spotted a bm last week and wouldnt you know it...Sold! BTW does anyone have the Panasonic Bakehouse? Does it require modding?
My wife still giggles about my first attempt of roasting...I do too...just quietly 8-) ;D

Not the start I was looking for  Starting to realise why the popper was in the back of the cupboard :
Off to the garage sales in the morning looking for a potential coretto.

Looks like Ill skip the popper after all Sue & Simon ;D

Nice one shortmacc, at least my popper lasted a couple of months before I fried it trying to do 5 roasts in a row!!!
The Corretto is a lot more efficient and controllable, 600g is an ideal batch size.
    cheers
    GM

I was surprised by the bitterness of the Nicuraguan.Almost a robusta taste.
Hi Bob and welcome to CS!

FWIW, The only coffees Ive ever had that were bitter were due to the roast, the espresso machine, or the barista, and had nothing to do with the source or variety.  Maybe Ive just been lucky.
You are right! Bitternes is usually a defect tracked back to one of the human elements in the processing or the extraction... but in saying that I have never been very found of the Nicaraguan attributes as I find them pretty boring.
