Re: BeanBay Monthly Sale - Wednesday 10th June 2009
Can someone give me a really good reason to split a kg of JBM two to three ways? Will you offer JBM as roasted Andy? Im not sure I like my odds on getting it about right first time!
Yet more tempting offers tonight from our sourcer (or is it sorcerer to get everything through customs this month?).
p.s. my Nicaraguan roasted up beautifully last night - snuck in a shot this morning just had to test it

Andy,
How much would it be for 250 grams of Jamaican Blue?
poddy66
Easy poddy66, 250g will be $90. What you choose to do with the other 750g is up to you
Andy packs in 2.5kg bags for ease of handling and in this case, does 2.5x the work so that CSers can sample this expensive stuff. Keep in mind that youd often pay up to $200/kg for stale roasted lower quality JBM.
Be thankful that we have access to great beans at more than fair prices....

$90 and you get another 750g free
;D
I really have to say, the prices we sell beans for take into account the fact that we can buy in bulk, pack in standard sizes, use standard packaging, and sell in bulk.
If we sold things in small packages and odd sizes then we would need many staff to handle the volume of orders. 10 staff at "x" $ per hour plus super plus insurance plus sickies to pick, pack, sort and ship... we would need to stock 20 different packaging sizes and offer 10 different postage methods.
We would then be retail and would charge at least double what we do now, more likely triple to cover the additional costs.
I think things work perfect now.
We can order in bulk, pre-pack everything prior to the Bean Bay sale (takes nearly 2 weeks of packing!!!) and sell / ship once a month (it takes nearly a week to pack and ship all the items to the pickup points and postage).
Please keep all the above in mind when requesting smaller amounts. There is every chance that if we ever did that you would just pay the same for less!

How does the Nicaraguan taste Intellidepth.
Andy you guys do a great job. I feel from what I have seen elsewhere
you guys offer beans at a very good price. Thank you for introducing me to
the world of coffee roasting. I will never drink instant again.
