Woohoo!
Picked up my beanbay goodies from caffeinefreak and had a look at their set-up. Very good Raced home to organise my first roast, grabbed all that i needed, headed out to the shed, 17 deg ambient-check, plug in the popper-check, thermocouple & beans in-check, stopwatch/pen/paper/fan/sieve/colander-check, then.......I looked to the wife said "lets get ready to rumble" - turned on the popper, heard a slight pooft noise, shed went dark, wife said pfft! and went inside.
Not the start I was looking for Starting to realise why the popper was in the back of the cupboard :
Off to the garage sales in the morning looking for a potential coretto.

Looks like Ill skip the popper after all Sue & Simon ;D

I was surprised by the bitterness of the Nicuraguan.Almost a robusta taste.

FWIW, The only coffees Ive ever had that were bitter were due to the roast, the espresso machine, or the barista, and had nothing to do with the source or variety.  Maybe Ive just been lucky.

You are right! Bitternes is usually a defect tracked back to one of the human elements in the processing or the extraction... but in saying that I have never been very found of the Nicaraguan attributes as I find them pretty boring.
