My work address is no good, as deliveries to there are a PITA (even I have trouble finding the dock).

Im happy for them to leave at my door if my wife is not home.
TG, if needed, we could always coordinate using my work address and then work it out from there.

from the conditions, it sounded identical to Australian Air Express.
weird, isnt AAE a joint venture between Aust Post and Qantas? I dont have the facts but i would have expected that theyd be one of the few couriers who could deliver to PO boxes given the Aust Post involvement.

Thats where the $10 "carding" fee comes into it - AP charges AAE and all other courier companies as well, for delivering carded items, ie: not homes, PO Boxes, rural addresses or anything they (Couriers)cant be bothered trying to find.  Its all about not giving the opposition a helping hand - after all, why should Aussie Post do the Couriers job and not get paid for it?

For my 2cents worth, Im happy to stay with AP, the delivery guy is usually here between 7.30 & 8.30am, which suits me.

Ill bite!  Which courier are you thinking of?
from the conditions, it sounded identical to Australian Air Express. if its not, excellent! hope that helps.
Nah, not them. The redelivery fee is common to nearly all the couriers, its an expensive thing for them to deal with.

AAE and Fast Track are both tied closely to Qantas and AustPost and neither deliver to PO boxes... in fact I dont know of a courier company that does... this must be an Austpost policy not a courier one as Im sure the couriers would be happy dropping off at a PO Box address. Go figure.

The other bonus with moving freight companies is that people that are buying multiple satchels at a time might be able to get it delivered far cheaper via a slower road freight option (a few days extra wait).

With the high volume of freight we do we should get great road freight pricing too.

          Thanks haz.
I still have about 90kg of greens and havent fixed my corretto.
When I get the stash down under 60kg I might take you up on the offer.

Yeah, I think youre right. I used to temp for AP in the international parcel section and seem to remember (now that I think about it a bit more) some kind of policy about not accepting any kind of courier delivery at a PO box.

Left at the door at home and cheaper price would be fine.

                Cheers

Not quite that easy... but to put it into perpective the 5kg satchels that we sell to CSrs for $15 currently cost us $18.50 (and have done for a while) so we need to look at other options (apart from jacking the price up). The irony here is that Australia Post are about to release new 5kg satchels to the general public far cheaper than they have been charging us as a commercial customer for years! (Grrrrrr)

The pricing we will get via the courier will be a moving target, the more home address deliveries we have the more expensive it will be. They work on the fact that its far easier to deliver 100 things in town than to ziz-zag all over the outer suburbs with one item in each area. They also have a fuel surcharge (all couriers have) that moves from month to month.

So how much cheaper? At the end of hte day it might be no different in the CS checkout but they will deliver by 11am next day anywhere in Australia so the biggest winners will be those off the east coast capitals. They will also be traceable and we are working on a method to easily get the tracking numbers back into the previous order tab of BeanBay so everyone can track their delivery.

The added bonus is that with high satchel numbers we will have access to good road freight pricing too so those that need to get 20kg orders delivered (slower... a few days wait) will have another option for freight.

I dont think we will see the courier option in BB for a month or two yet as we are still in talks and also have a pile of backend work to deal with their paperwork heavy and overly complicated area-zone consignment note system.

When we "go live" BeanBay checkout will calculate all the (current) freight costs on the fly so you will have the options of:

                    Austpost Satchels
                    Courier Delivery
                    Road Freight
                    Pickup Point Delivery

Each one will show the total cost and a dollar per kilo breakdown so you can choose the delivery cost/wait that suits you best.

                    8-)

                          Re: CoffeeSnobs Freight.

Just for reference, the couple of deliveries I had (a few months ago, so prior to the change) were all left on the doorstep, just not on mine! Im at unit 6 of number 1, and they constantly left them on unit 1s doorstep, even after updating my address to specify unit 6. Thankfully, unit 1 is a nice chick who didnt take so much as a bean ;D
