Well, I just finished all the roasting, so those with paid roasted orders will see the status change when they ship today (errr.. in daylight!)

My first CS order arrived today. I got the mandatory Starter pack which included Brazil Pulped; Uganda Busamaga; Malawai and Peru Ceja de Selva (which Id seen KK raving about, so I was stoaked to see it in the bag). Throw in a couple of K of huehue, the membership card and now the collection begins.
Now to read up on a couple of the above mentioned beans.

One more thing, the Malawi (60g) and the Brazil (90g) bags popped open during transport leaving me with a ready made blend. What can I expect from this mix and what could I add to bring it up to a 250g blend?

Andy, you are a marvel.  Beans have arrived today - many thanks.

I thought I had enough beans to last for a little while longer, but when I saw the Tanzanian I just had to get some - and then added two Ethiopians, some more PNG Wahgi and some Sumatran Lintong - the pantry is full, the wallet is empty lol.  Now to decide which to roast first

So... how was an afternoon BeanBay for everyone?
I think the time of day is more of an issue when demand greatly outstrips supply - to the point where you have to be online at precisely the right time in order to not miss out in the frantic rush.

Having heaps of stock available, plus rationing the high-demand bean, seems to have made the timing much less of a problem.

Due to work I couldnt log on until well past the time. In the old days this would have been a problem, but this time there was still plenty left, so Im a happy chappy!

The BIG gotcha there is when I "open it up" later I get piles of emails requesting that I add beans to existing orders and adjust the freight.Half an hour or more to do each one in hte system and the time it takes to read/reply to the emails back and forward quickly chews-up days of my life.
Yes that was my concern for my first suggestion about an extended BB - the extra work generated. I wasnt aware that we were adding so much to your already busy workload.

Perhaps, like you did with the Herbazu, you open up the leftovers for the next BeanBay.

I also like the idea of rationing beans of smaller quantities - much fairer. Id like to see this used in every BB if possible for exclusive beans and then opening up if theres some left after the initial mad rush.

So, no, I cannot see us doing that for every bean on BeanBay. Instead we have been buying far bigger quantities so that they last longer. The only beans that have sold out quickly in the last 6 months were things that still would have sold out as we could only source a small amount.

    VERY impressive service, Andy
Ahhh, you lot have made my day! The hours are nuts sometimes during BeanBay-week (yeah, Im still working now) but I always give the service I can only dream about getting from businesses that I deal with.

Our freight companies are all great to deal with though, they allow me to send things at odd hours (postoffice and star track couriers till 6pm) so that helps a lot and our BeanBay software is awesome for keeping track of orders, printing labels and scanning satchels so we know what is where at any given time.

All are little pieces of the puzzle that help make the whole thing work.

    (and Paula, no doubt!)
Nah, not this month, she didnt even know it was on! Way too busy with the normal kid shuffle and school "stuff" this month including a day at Kinder making Christmas tree decorations.
    8-)

I have just closed off the pickup point freight options as Im at the Snobbery roasting orders so with any luck all the pickup point beans will ship tomorrow.

    Enjoy your coffee CS crew!

    A.

I spoke too soon! Just as I got my bags home (delivered to my work) a bag gets confiscated, apparently its going to be wrapped up and placed under the tree.....

Decided to roast some of the Eth. Longberry, 3rd batch on the Corretto and looking very tasty....

VERY impressive service, Andy (and Paula, no doubt!). Less than 24 hours from the snobbery to my kitchen bench - wow!

Cant wait to try a roast with the Rononi - and the 1 bag per snob is a great idea, lets everyone have a share.

And the Mon arvo BB was no problem (for me). Very happy little snob over here. (Now, with the temperature dropped and a few drops of refreshing rain starting to fall, Im grabbing a beer and the Corretto and roasting me some Rononi on the patio.)

    Thanks.
