December already!  We have seen some great coffees this year but none more amazing than one of the coffees that will be in BeanBay on Monday afternoon.

This coming BeanBay will have a remarkable coffee, not for its good body and acidity or its  performance in milk which are all very good but this coffee is remarkable for its provenance.  We have available the first crop of Tanzanian Rononi coffee that was processed on the pulpers that the CoffeeSnobs community funded through our FairCrack scheme.

We have seen the farmers in the Kilimanjaro village bring beans to the central pulpery, we have seen curiosity of the locals wondering if this is a better way to do business, we have joined in the fascination of children watching this new machine separate the fruit pulp from the bean parchment and earlier this year their first crop went to auction in Moshe Tanzania and we purchased it.

Thanks to the huge efforts from Bente and Ralph on the ground in Tanzania we shipped it around the world and thanks to Louise here who guided it through AQIS and freight forwarders it has arrived safe and sound at the Snobbery.  Due to the very small crop size and to be fair to CS’rs there will be a limit of 2.5kg of green beans per member, it will also be available as a roasted bean for those that don’t roast their own.

We will also have two coffees from the Yunnan region of China.  Both are from the same area, one is fully washed and the other has been wet hulled.  Nearly the same bean with two different approaches to processing makes this a great opportunity to experience the effect  that  processing can make on the finished product.
