    Re: Pickup Point - Discussion

    Good post from Andy.

The Queenslanders need to think about this...

If its not working at Veneziano, someone (an individual) may have to stump up and become a pick up point.

We did when the northern Sydney one fell over. Dont complain or tell Veneziano how to do it.....

    They are a business.

This sort of thing is much easier for an individual to run.

      Re: Pickup Point - Discussion

This is a little off topic, but i just wanted to ask about the pickup point that cksyd has, as i live in parramatta and i believe chris lives not too far from me...

Ive had a couple of brown bean orders, and both times was too impatient to wait for the pick up delivery, so had them sent to my place.
also, i couldnt really find any information about where/when to pick up... so a few questions...
do i have to pick up at a certain date/time?
if there is a designated time or day and i cant make it, do you mind if i arrange an alternative time?
are there any meet ups in the parramatta area? or is anyone else interested in meeting up if there isnt anything already? id like to get to know some other coffee snobs...

sorry for the slightly off topic comment, but seemed a good place to ask these things...

          Re: Pickup Point - Discussion

Id just like to say to Andy a HUGE thank u!! Without all ur hard work we wouldnt have green beans, Behmors and this site. I can only imagine how huge admin wise this is for him and Im sure his pay check probably doesnt reflect it!! We have a real privilege to be able to drink some of the finest greens around sourced from all over the world... If we need to wait an extra week... So be it... Justbuy an extra kg to get u through!! ;D
As a Brissy boy we just need to be patient and maybe look @ other options eg AMs place. Where theres a will theres a way!! lets just no burden AM and his wife for the sake of $2 ;D

            Re: Pickup Point - Discussion

Im willing to assist with distribution in Brisbane if needed. I stay in the Redlands (Ormiston) however, so not sure how convenient that will be for some people. But maybe I can help lighten the load on AM or anyone else who is also able to assist. I am also willing to pick-up from AM or wherever is required. I work mostly from home, so I am usually around. (Although will be overseas for 2 weeks at the end of this October beginning November).

because Ive always had my deliveries via e-parcel up to now, Im not exactly sure how the delivery/pickup logistics work, what quantities are involved, and how much effort is involved, so maybe someone can give me a heads-up on that aspect.

              Re: Pickup Point - Discussion

Sponsor - Gilkatho used to do the BB pick up before Venaziano

The reason it changed was that Gilkatho was renovating the shop and needed a temporary fix for bean bay pick up
Otherwise it would have been kaos

At that time Veneziano Bris was just opening for trade and took over the Green Bean Pick Up

                Re: Pickup Point - Discussion

I have already put forward my opinion, but I cant help but speak again....  sorry everyone.......

I would be really disappointed if Veneziano wasnt the Brisbane pick up point.

I reeeaaaalllly love the coffee there!

It is in no way close to my place, I live in Ipswich (but work in Taringa), it is a long drive to swing by on the way home..... and I have limited opportunities to get there to pick up my beans (the reason I often call in a few days early or a week late).... but....

I like that the idea that it is meant to be a social event with other CS members and, since that hasnt really been happening, I am equally happy that I get to chat with the Veneziano staff. I havent met a bad one yet!

Id also like to add that I have no complaint of how the Beanbay is working and think that Andy does a spectacular job. I dont think it could be improved upon from the sender end.

                  Re: Pickup Point - Discussion

Once again I am also going to put my vote behind any sponsor that offers or continues to provide a pick-up point.

Due to a number of ongoing personal matters and comments made directly to me on this matter -

I find I am no longer in a position to offer my assistance in providing a private pick-up point..... And re tract my previous offer.

Just want to say thanks to Caffeinefreak for hosting the Beanbay pick-up. Loved your espresso. Was a enjoyable afternoon, meeting the other CSers and learning a few things along the way.
It was my first encounter with a coretto, and i must say your set up and the result of your demo was fantastic.
Now, where can i find a second hand bread machine.....

                      Re: Pickup Point - Discussion

A question about pickup points - I see it is not possible to select pickup points for coffee that is purchased through the month.
Would it be possible to purchase green beans through the month, and pay for it, but have the shipping option of "next Beanbay" if you are happy to wait up to a month? Because of the cost of alternate freight options to Tassie, I would certainly be prepared to wait for cheaper freight (pickup point), just that Im not always around at beanbay time.
                      Thoughts?

                        Andy,
Id be happy to go direct delivery only. Would it be possible to change minimum order quantities to either 3 or 2kgs. This would enable full use of the 3kg satchel.

...is the reason that we pack in 2.5kg lots.

5kg satchels work out cheaper per kilo that 3kg satchels so you would be better off shipping with those.

The more you freight the cheaper the per kilo freight is.
You are far better off using the road freight options (Star Track and e-Parcel) for orders above 5kg as the per kilo price nearly halves over the satchel pricing.

If you can find a local CSr to share the freight and order your beans together you both save more again.

We charge under actual freight cost so any weirdness in the pricing structure is a feature of the freight companies, not ours.

Righto then, didnt realise there was a 5kg option. That solves 2 problems:
                              • Cheaper postage
                              • Ready made excuse for "darling" for ordering more coffee
