Now thats an impressive lineup, Andy.

Ive never seen Laotian coffee before and despite trying quite a few Indonesian beans, ive never had the pleasure of drinking or roasting beans from Java (or Flores, for that matter) so its going to be exciting to have a chance to roast some of these.

And thats not even mentioning another Yemeni coffee that sounds as amazing as the Bani Ismail and the Herbazu that ive been really enjoying recently at a number of Melbournes better cafes.

I best ask the missus for a loan :-X

We have a new pickup in Sydney this month,
Roger from the Erkochurch in Erskinville has offered to host a pickup for those closer to the city. Ercochurch has car parking and is open during the week.

The other pickup change this month is WA, Simon isnt going to be about so Trevor (Greenman) has offered to host the sandgroppers at the Grrenhome this month.

    8-)

    Monthly BeanBay GREEN Bean Sale

    Sunday 13th March 2011

    8pm ACT, NSW, VIC, TAS
    7.30pm SA

The beans available at the above date/times will be:

    Flores Gunung Inerie $12/kg*
From an emerging specialty growing region this Flores is a fully washed arabica grown in the shadows of the Gunung Inerie volcano. Roast testing of this one found that at slower, darker than usual roast around CS10 produced loads of dark cocoa with a lingering finish.

    Java Ijen Sundried $11/kg*
It’s been 6 years since we have had access to the Java Ijen coffee. This is a fully washed and sundried coffee that is the original java in the famous "Mocha Java" blend. Clean, well processed and well graded this coffee is easy to roast and as an espresso produced great body, low acidity and finished with a creamy mouthfeel. Another great Indo coffee.

    Laos Dong Hua Sao $9.50/kg*
This is the first time that we have sold a Laos coffee. This Arabica comes from the Dong Hua Sao forest and has been through a process similar to monsooning which leaves the coffee at a lower density with less acidity. At a CS9 roast depth its bold with a sharp, punchy finish which certainly stands-up to milk. Interesting coffee and I look forward to more from the region in the future.

    Yemen Al-Hajj Boaan $26/kg*
Like the late Big Kev, Im excited! The first of 5 different regional Yemen beans has arrived and its a ripper. The Al-Hajj Boaan is a larger graded bean than other Yemen offerings in the past and even as a green bean is an amazing coffee with a sweet, ripe fruit and red wine aroma. The same rich fruitiness appears in the cup with a heavy bodied espresso that will have you coming back for more.

    Java Kalistat Estate $21/kg*
This is the winning entry for the best Java coffee in the recent Specialty Coffee Association Indonesia coffee sales. Very clean full washed coffee which is well graded and hand sorted. In the cup it produces a mid bodied, balanced and slightly spicy espresso. The very best from the region and we hope to land more similar small lots from their future coffee competitions.

    Costa Rica Cafétalera Herbazu $15/kg*
New crop. Sun dried, semi-washed (miel) honey processed coffee. In the cup its a bright, mid bodied sweet coffee that makes this one of the very best Costa Rican coffees from a Cup of Excellence winning farm.

    * all coffee prices include a 50c/kg FairCrack donation and come in 2.5kg CoffeeSnobs cotton bags.
