Re: Monthly BeanBay GREEN Bean Release - MONDAY 18th June 2012
Andy as we say you are the man to order green beans(or roasted for that matter) from. Ordered on Monday night. Order able to be tracked via internet. 11.00 a.m. today (Wed) our beans are here at the door delivered by our wonderful friendly Aussie Post Courier lady from Burpengary M.C. There will be great rejoicing in the camp now as we roast those wonderful not to be beaten WOW Decaff
beans and others. Service with a personal touch. Thanks Andy once again. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Just received my Behmor - Thanks Andy!! super quick service as always. Just checking if there are any beans in beanbay that ARENT particularly suited to the Behmor. Or is it just a matter of some are easier to roast than others but all would be suitable to some degree??
Thanks in advance.
The Yemens - because theyre a small bean and a lot of them will fall through the grill. Best to run these on a cooling cycle, and roast the ones that fall out using a different method.

Simon,
what suburb southside do you live in? There is south, and then there is south!

They are all good, provided you are just talking about the green beans :P. Different types, different flavours, combined with different roasting profiles/times/methods and then blends = an enduring experiment that nevers end, just gets better.

Thanks Andy...
I live on the south side.
Ill set aside a suitable time at home for people to come and grab it.
Alternatively if the city suits some of you, i can bring it into work. I work up the story bridge end of town. The limiting factor is i ride a motorbike to work so i wont be carrying 20kg thats for sure. :P

Being the first QLD pickup hosted by Simon Im not sure where he will hold it. He works in the city but might do it from home.
Not much help I know but getting together with other CSrs for a pickup shouldnt matter if you have to cross town to get to it.
Melbourne CSrs often drive an hour to do the pickup, its a great chance to meet others and toss tips and tricks around.

This Nicaraguan is a selection from a very small lot. Washed and then sun dried its clean and well processed. Roasted to CS9 it produced a doppio espresso with a silky velvet mouth feel, mid acidity and is a true bitter sweet cocoa bomb in the cup. Great Central American coffee.
I was privileged enough awhile ago to be given some of this wonderful bean as a green by a very good friend in the roasting circle.
I was informed that the roasting quality of this is comparable to the Panama Geisha, and I am happy to say that it is well worth it when it comes along.

Yep, it is a pulped natural. We purchased the entire microlot of this one, its a ripper.
I also need to mention that the QLD pickup this month will be hosted by CSr "Simon T". He offered to give it a go after the West End pickup went a little pear-shaped.
Simon will let everyone know in the thread when the beans arrive and what pickup time suits best, after that you can drop him a PM to get the address details.
Thanks Simon!

Monthly BeanBay GREEN Bean Release - MONDAY 18th June 2012
Monthly Green Bean BeanBay
MONDAY 18th June 2012
20:00 AEST
8:00pm QLD, ACT, NSW, VIC, TAS
7:30pm SA, NT
6:00pm WA
The new beans that will appear in BeanBay at the above times are:
Nicaragua Matagalpa Diamond Microlot $11.50/kg*
This Nicaraguan is a selection from a very small lot. Washed and then sun dried its clean and well processed. Roasted to CS9 it produced a doppio espresso with a silky velvet mouth feel, mid acidity and is a true bitter sweet cocoa bomb in the cup. Great Central American coffee.
Brazil Yellow Bourbon Especial Reserve $12.50/kg*
New crop of the Brazil Yellow Bourbon Especial. The Reserve tag signifies that this is a microlot, a specific section that was separated from the rest of the harvest. Roasted to CS8 the dominant feature was nuttiness, at CS9 the sweetness came out and the coffee became more balanced. Great as it is for fans of clean Brazilian coffees or use as a quality base to a funkier blend.
Kenya Muranga AA+ $14/kg*
This Kenya Muranga is graded to AA and above giving it the unofficial grade of AA+ or AAA. Which really translates to all the largest beans after size grading and hand sorting the defects. You will also find the odd bean still in its parchment wrapper that snuck through the sorting due to its size. This coffee has a stunning ground aroma. In the cup at CS9 its bright and clean with a granny smith type acidity that lingers nicely. Excellent Kenyan coffee.
* price per kilo packed in 2.5kg CoffeeSnobs cotton bags and includes the FairCrack $0.50/kg donation.
You can select direct shipping via Australia Post (express or road) and Star Track Express (air or road) along with some other options depending on where you live. or you can collect your paid order from Morgan Street (when Im there, late afternoons prefered).
Pickup Points (one per state)
(only an available option for a couple of days either side of the sale date).
QLD - "Simon T" - Brissy
NSW - Erkochurch - Erskinville
TAS - "ParaM" – Hobart
SA - Fiefys Specialty Cafe - Adelaide
WA - "Greeman" - Warwick
VIC - Veneziano- Abbotsford - 30th June 10:30-11:30 only
We hope to get beans to the pickup points by: 30/6/2012
This delivery date is a best guess as we are often at the whim of couriers around the country. Generally when the beans arrive at the pickup point someone will post in this thread to let you know the time/date that you should meet for the pickup.
Please dont annoy the pickup points by asking for your beans before they let you know in this thread they are available for collection.
Enjoy!
