It was packed out on the Sunday (beautiful day) compared to the gusty conditions on Saturday!Originally posted by Andy View PostHow was it?
Some great entertainment, informative discussions and coffee sampling from the demonstration/judging area.
I paid for just 3 (exhibit) coffees over both days, judging only one as acceptable.
Maybe I am becoming a bit too critical from consuming quality home roasted/brewed CS beans.
I am confident the coffee culture in this region will continue to evolve, thanks to the Aroma Fest and the www.
Cheers

Back from a big weekend at the Maitland Aroma festival and just couldn't help myself but; "help myself" to some Robusta Monsoon and Mullayanagiri Geisha!
Throw in some Ceylon EB and Sencha green tea to keep the other halve(s) happy and voila; I've dented the bank account again.
Looking forward to the many variable pleasures of consumption that undoubtedly/hopefully follow.

Wow the India Mullayanagiri Geisha sounds interesting.
I am running low on the Panama Finca Geisha that I have left.

Ooh. I've got my eye on that Costa Rican and the robusta.
I wasn't planning on buying more greens. But I'm going to have to.

Monthly BeanBay GREEN Bean Release - SUNDAY 19th August 2012 - 8pm AEST
SUNDAY 19th August 2012
20:00 AEST
8:00pm QLD, ACT, NSW, VIC, TAS
7:30pm SA, NT
6:00pm WA
The new beans that will appear in BeanBay at the above times are:
India Mullayanagiri Geisha $13/kg*
This is a high altitude honey process bean. The varietal is unique to the area and is a Panama Geisha crossed with a Timor Hybrid to give better pest resistance. Looks a little patchy in colour but roasts well and produces a really good bodied espresso shot that works well as it is or in milk based drinks
Costa Rica Tarrazu La Guaria $14/kg*
This is a high grown very clean and well graded micro-lot coffee. Velvet smooth mouth feel and granny smith apple acidity it makes a great single origin espresso and should work well in a range or brewing devices and differing roast depths.
Robusta - Indian Monsoon $7.50/kg*
Very clean and well graded this robusta has been monsooned which lowers the acidity but it still packs a punch. While it's drinkable as a single origin when roasted to CS9-10 the real use of this bean is to fatten-up an Italian style espresso blend. Thick gelatinous crema and enough grunt to punch through milk.
* price per kilo packed in 2.5kg CoffeeSnobs cotton bags and includes the FairCrack $0.50/kg donation.
You can select direct shipping via Australia Post (express or road) and Star Track Express (air or road) along with some other options depending on where you live or you can collect your paid order from Morgan Street (when I'm there, late afternoons preferred).
Pickup Points (one per state)
(only an available option for a couple of days either side of the sale date).
QLD - "Simon T" - Brissy
NSW - Erkochurch - Erskinville
TAS - "ParaM" – Hobart
SA - Fiefys Specialty Cafe - Adelaide
WA - "Greeman" - Warwick
VIC - Veneziano- Abbotsford - SAT 25th August 10:30-11:30 only
We hope to get beans to all the pickup points by: 31/8/2012
This delivery date is a best guess as we are often at the whim of couriers around the country. Generally when the beans arrive at the pickup point someone will post in this thread to let you know the time/date that you should meet for the pickup.
Please don't annoy the pickup points by asking for your beans before they let you know in this thread they are available for collection.
Enjoy!
