  • Monthly BeanBay GREEN Bean Release - THURSDAY 11th October 2012 - 8pm AEST

    THURSDAY 11th October 2012
    20:00 AEDT

    8:00pm ACT, NSW, VIC, TAS
    7:00pm QLD
    7:30pm SA
    6:30pm NT
    5:00pm WA
(at least I think that's how the current daylight savings works!)

The new release beans that will appear in BeanBay are:

    Rwanda Nyungwe $10.50/kg*
Rwanda Nyungwe is a high altitude coffee grown in high rainfall area. Small beans but I found that roasted to the start of CS10 on a long slow profile it became a bitter sweet cocoa bomb. It's an easy bean to roast as it take the heat in a smooth curve. In the cup it had a great body and worked well as a single origin espresso shot but worked equally great in a latte.

    Sulawesi Blue Peaberry $13/50/kg*
Sulawesi Blue Peaberry is one of the best graded wet hulled coffees I've ever seen. All the peaberries are the same size range and very few have the typical wet hulled cow hoof splits or the brokens. More dense than the Sulawesi Blue it takes a hotter, slower roast and I think works best at high CS9. Spicy, heavy, syrup like pours with a super body and a nice sweet blood plum finish. Hard to stop at one shot of this one when you get the roast profile right.

    * price per kilo packed in 2.5kg CoffeeSnobs cotton bags and includes the FairCrack $0.50/kg donation.

You can select direct shipping via Australia Post (express or road) and Star Track Express (air or road) along with some other options depending on where you live or you can collect your paid order from Morgan Street (when I'm there, late afternoons preferred).

    Pickup Points (one per state)
(only an available option for a couple of days either side of the sale date).

    QLD - "Simon T" - Brissy
    NSW - Erkochurch - Erskinville
    TAS - "ParaM" – Hobart
SA - Fiefys Specialty Cafe - Adelaide
    WA - "Greeman" - Warwick
VIC - Veneziano- Abbotsford (Sorry NO Vic Pickup this month)

We hope to get beans to all the pickup points by: 27/10/2012

This delivery date is a best guess as we are often at the whim of couriers around the country. Generally when the beans arrive at the pickup point someone will post in this thread to let you know the time/date that you should meet for the pickup.

Please don't annoy the pickup points by asking for your beans before they let you know in this thread they are available for collection.

    Enjoy!

    Note...
The Victorian pickup just won't fit in my life this month.
I'm interstate next weekend and unavailable the following one when I return.

PS: I know I left the subject line off the email, oops... that's one of my pet email hates too.
(I guess that's what should expect to happen at 3am after a 20 hour work day)

      Andy (and everyone else),

Can you you please recommend a green been that is cheap and good as an espresso? Gone off the milk-based drinks lately....

      Thanks!

        Hi,
All the forum members tend to rate the coffee as top notch so i'd be interested in buying.
I'm wondering about the type of roasting that you do for the beans. As I drink through filter (V60, Aeropress) I prefer a lighter roast..

Are there any varieties that are roaster lighter?

        Thanks in advance
        Regards,
        Daniel

            Hotter, slower?

I received my order of Sulawesi Blue Peaberry and hope to do some roasting this weekend. I'm using a Baby Roaster FZ-RR-700.

I am slightly confused about the comment "... it takes a hotter, slower roast..." and not sure how to achieve both. If I turn up the gas, I assume I'm going to get a hotter, faster roast.

Can someone please help out with an explanation. And, as always, my apologies if I have missed something basic.

            Cheers

            Jayreyme

SA beans are ready to pick up @Fiefy's during weekdays from 1.30pm-3pm.

We are appreciated you are coming during the specific time due to the cafe high traffic during the other times of the day.

              See you guys soon,

                      Hi all,

                      Brissy beans have arrived.

Looking at a pickup window on Sunday between 3-4:30 at my place in calamvale. PM me for the address.

Same deal applies if you want to pick them up from the city, i can bring them in to work.
If you want me to bring them in to work, please try and pick them up as soon as you can... its not great having them sit on my desk for a couple weeks.

                      Simon
