Andy sent out an email on the 5th. If you missed it somehow you should PM him to resend it to you.

Re: Brisbane BeanBay Pickup Point - March

Thanks to Belinda for opening her house and holding the beans for us, Cameron for shipping them here and Andy for having a great selection of beans to choose from.

Sorry i had to pick and run, had a few cat problems, if we only could teach our cat to roast beans instead of fighting the world (around here ) would be a better place, though the vet would be a few $$$$$ short.

This wasmy first BeanBay and I just wanted to thank Belinda again for hosting it as well as the coffee and beer. Next time I have to try the Espresso-flavoured beer though.

And for those that want to know more about my X10 modded Giotto (able to switch on remotely via web/mobile phone)....http://www.coffeegeek.com/forums/esp...achines/265294

                See you all next month.

Hi Daniel - if Ive read the instructions on the Giotto correctly, the steam valve should be opened prior to turning on the machine. I guess this has something to do with allowing the boiler to fill correctly.

How do you overcome this with your setup? Is this an issue?

Re: Brisbane BeanBay Pickup Point - March

Dennis, that is correct. However the instructions only list this step when starting the machine up for the very first time. Meaning, when the boiler is empty, well, full of air. But since the boiler is a closed system it will still be full once you shut the machine off after operation. So there is no need to fill up the boiler once you turn it on again the next time. At least thats what I believe and have observed so far. Feel free to correct me if Im wrong, but for the past 3-4 months that the X10 switch has been installed its been working like a charm. The only thing Im worried about, is the machine is switching off while Im making a coffee. If I happen to do so at precisely 11pm, that is.

It was nice tostay and have a chat for a while. Thanks again Cameron for sponsoring the pickup.

Im getting a nice African collection to play with... once I get my coretto setup going. Belinda had a really nice Indonesion/Bali blend which had me thinking I should get moving on the corretto setup.

                          Cheers,

                          Mark.

                            Thanks again Belinda!

Your hospitality is so warm and generous!

Im sorry I (and my cake) arrived a little later and I missed a bunch of people but you just cant rush babies, sleeps and feeds!

There was talk on Saturday about a bean swap and a roasting day for brisburbians and I (foolishly?) offered the underneath of my house for the occasion. There are some pros and cons to this... but I will start a new thread to discuss.

                            Cheers,

                            Meg

Thankyou Meg, you are too kind.

Of course a great beanbay pickup cannot happen unless you have great people there, which we did

Was a fun time for sure.

Looking forward to next time [smiley=evil.gif]

Re: Brisbane BeanBay Pickup Point - March

As per the general consensus at the beanbay pickup I shall start the Brisbane Beanbay Swap, aimed solely at people in the Brisbane area. So it will be a local thingy really.

Ill start it in this thread so it wont get lost too easily and well see how it goes.

Im hoping to swap, an amount, probably ~ 500 grams of each, to get the beans rolling of:

Ethiopa Ghimbi Organic - from June 06 Beanbay
                                or
Panama Volcan Baru - from Nov 06 Beanbay
                                or
Ugandan Bugisu AA - from May 06 Beanbay

                                FOR

                                PNG Marogogipe AA
                                or
                                Zambia AA Lupili Estate
                                or
Honduras Marcala SHG Organic from the this and the previous Beanbay
