    BeanBay Green Bean Release - April 2014

    PNG Wahgi AA


    PNG Wahgi AA is washed, well sorted and sized this is a really easy bean to roast and the results work well through a number of roast depths and brewing styles. Bright and acidic at CS8, Sweet at CS9, full of cocoa at CS10. I like it as an doppio espresso at CS9 where it's still has some lingering brightness but this coffee really shines best in milk based drinks.




    Nicaragua La Garita


    Nicaragua La Garita is well graded and a pleasure to roast. Roasted in the lighter half of the scale this is a mid bodied, bright and short finishing espresso but worked a treat as a filter coffee. Take the roast a bit darker into the middle of your roasting scale and the brightness balances out with some sweetness and the body improves. This a great coffee that should suit a variety of roasting and brewing methods.


    Panama Jaramillo SHB


    Panama Jaramillo SHB High altitude coffee, washed clean and really well graded. This is a bit of a chaff monster when roasting but the results are a stunning Central American style coffee. Bright, mid-bodied with a great velvety mouthfeel and a sweet finish. Excellent grade, large bean.

      Spoilt for choice..............

      can't post in 'the knock box' but........ I was going through a cupboard looking for stuff and found a swag
      of old CS coffee bags.

      Non zipper......... sorry to your thumbs Andy! ;-)

                I have just received my sampler bag but wanted to ask before I open one of the coffees, should I be waiting a certain time before using them? This is my first foray at using fresh roasted coffee, previously it was from fairly unreliable sources (as in I have no idea how long before I got them they were roasted)

                  geral, if they are roasted beans then I would wait at least 5 days from the roast date (which is printed on the bag) before opening them to allow them to develop their flavours. I have made the mistake of opening a bag of fresh roasted beans and throwing they out because they didn't taste right. I now know that was dumb.

                  They will develop fully over about a 3 week period starting around day 4 or 5. Some people prefer fresh roasted beans, but most like to wait until the flavours have developed first. You will find that Beanbay beans are top class.
