I concur with kwntfm on the Gesha being a stunner, I haven't tried it as espresso but have done two filter roasts so far with outstanding results, everyone that I have shared this treasure with have been impressed, accolades to Andy for accessing this amazing coffee........!!

Had my first taste of the Colombia La Esperanza Gesha Cerro Azul this morning, only two days post roast. Simply put it's a stunner. I had it as a double ristretto (I know, shock, horror, etc), very floral with hints of jasmine, intense caramel sweetness, beautiful defining grapefruit acidity rounding out the mouthfeel.
I've tried a lot of geisha in the past year and the Cerro Azul is certainly in the top rank.

The Geisha and the Venezuelan are both very appealing to me..... I might just get some of the latter for now.
So sad, there is no more Peru Ceja de Selva.......love that bean so much. Is there to be more of this at some stage? Certainly hope so.
Happy drinking to all you lucky people drinking the Colombian geisha.

Roasted 500g of the Gesha on Saturday, taking the the roast to the end of first crack at 10m.30s.
Today I did a V60 brew, the aroma off the grinds was rich and fruity, in the cup it was super clean, sweet, rich velvety mouthfeel, bergamot, tropical fruit, sweet chocolate and a lingering aftertaste. A most pleasant experience and with 1.5kg left many more pleasurable moments to follow........................

Sounds like you found a roast depth that suits your taste... although I have to say all the different roasts I've done of this were all "valid" and some I preferred to others.Originally posted by Talk_Coffee View PostWow...I couldn't wait. Roasted yesterday and Aeropress last night. Aeropress today even better. Chemex just now.....just WOW!

Found some info on the farm for anyone that is interested:--
The “Cerro Azul” farm was purchased in December 2006 and encompasses an area of 20 hectares between 1,700 m.a.s.l. and 1,950 m.a.s.l. At that time it was a working coffee farm planted with Caturra trees. In September 2007 they planted 35,000 Geisha plants using all of the knowledge that they acquired at “La Carleida” in Panama. Where did they get 35,000 Geisha plants in Colombia?? Good question: they brought the seeds from Panama themselves, from their own plants. So when they do a side-by-side cupping with their Panamanian and Colombian Geishas, they are cupping cousins.
Unlike most large Colombian farms, which focus exclusively on volume, “Cerro Azul” is managed very profesionally: each lot of Geisha is meticulously cared after. From the distance at which the trees are planted to the custom levels of fertilizer that is applied to each plant. “Cerro Azul” pays their pickers by the day, not by the sack or by weight like is customary in most Colombian farms. This gives them the incentive to take their time and pick only the ripest cherries. Overripe cherries or defects are picked and kept separate to avoid contamination or give fuel to the Broca. The farm managers take the time to train each individual picker, explaining the reasons why it is so important to pick only the ripe cherries, making sure that each picker is part of the team. The average picker at “Cerro Azul” picks an average of 25 kg of cherry per day (which is equivalent to only 5 kg of dry parchment). That means that to produce one 70-kg bag of green coffee you need to add up the harvest of 20 pickers. This is expensive, but it is the only way to guarantee quality.
