  • Pressurised Baskets modified--Breville or Sunbeam

    Hi all,

Ive managed to cut the pressure disk off a number of Breville Ikon baskets for people and am happy to do the same for anyone else. I gather that the same Ikon baskets are used in newer machines.

This turns the pressurised basket into a plain basket and makes it possible to get excellent coffee from a base level machine.

I also have a pre-done basket that Im willing to swap for any un-done basket if speed is of the essence. It only costs you the postage one-way.

PM me for my address or to ask any questions.

A search will show you pics of my work and feedback about the improvement in peoples extractions.

    Greg

        Hi Greg,

            Re: Breville (Ikon) Baskets modified/exchanged

            Hi all,

Thanks to coffeemum--who provided some Sunbeam baskets for experimental purposes--I am now prepared to extend this offer to those as well.

Baskets (those with pin-hole bottoms, and multi-hole inserts) de-bottomed or de-pressurised. The only cost is postage to me.

            PM for details.

            Thanks all.

            Greg

I got my baskets back from greg and they are great!

still trying to adjust my grind to get the extraction right (still way too quick) but im getting solid pucks for once in my life

see the attached pic for a comparison of unmodified vs modified

thanks heaps greg! such a generous service

really green here, i drink java coffee powders and go to macafe lol, but am slowly being enlightened to real coffee.

so anyway do we need to do this to the baskets that come with the breville bes900?

if so, could you do mine? prweety please

so lets see if i got this right the pressurised baskets give u a fake crema while the unpressurised gives u real crema makes ur espressos taste heaps better.

You actually get 4 baskets 2 pressurised and 2 un-pressurised

it would seem the rubber cleaning/backflushing gasket only really works with pressurised baskets

Seems to me would have been better to put in a proper blind filter in the box and leave out the pressurised ones
