  • CoffeeSnobs FairCrack - Name our Kilimanjaro Goat!

    Guess what CS'rs?

    We own a goat!

Bente went to visit Kissimeni recently which was one of the villages that we got running water into and was amazed at their progress. She was there for the opening ceremony (the 1st water "birthday" celebrations)

12 months on and fresh running water has allowed them to grow veggies year round and the great news is that they are growing so well they are even selling and bartering their excess crop. Awesome news!

So anyway, back to the story... the Kissimeni village gave Bente a goat on our behalf as a thank-you for the water project.

She was really surprised and initially took the goat back to Machare Estate but he was lonely among the cows, he has now moved to Uru Estate where the farm manager George keeps some goats too.

We need to give him a name!

As an obscure reference, how about "Phil".

There is an urban legend that coffee was discovered by goat herders who noticed their goats were frisky after eating leaves from the coffee plant (or something to that effect). So you could say coffee had its origins in goats; coffees Genesis. As Genesis is probably a slightly unusual name for a goat, I came up with Phil (as in Phil Collins, formerly of Genesis).

I told you it was an obscure reference.

Of course, you could always call it Adam (or perhaps Eve - forbidden fruit and all that)...
