Excuse my ignorance - what exactly is invilved in a cupping comp? Are the people doing the cupping themselves judged on their ability to identify varieties?

From memory as described by a former Aussie Cupping Champ IIRC.

You get given a series of 3 cups of coffee to taste and you have to pick the odd one out.

Your choice how you select. Taste, smell or toss a coin.
I think theres a time limit and the winner is the one that gets the most correct answers.

Yeha I triangular setup. 8 sets off coffee in groups of 3. One in each group is the odd one out. Just gotta pick it out. If its a tie, it goes by time. So speed and accuracy are key.

I wonder if I could be lucky enough to win by choosing with the tossing a coin method?

                      Youve got a three-sided coin? :P

Seriously though, be great if people would put their hands up to enter so a NSW comp could go ahead.

                        Good point Michelle.

The easy way around that problem is to use a die and allocate 2 numbers to each cup.
