Well Ive just arrived home after the 2 hour journey up the F3. I had a great day playing with Andys different roasters and managed to bring home a couple of little baggies of fresh roasted browns.
Andy, Scoots, Dennis (Cuppacoffee) & CKSYD were brilliant company, the displays inside were interesting although definitely more set up for the retail environment than home user, of course.
Picked myself up a copy of Seans new Home Coffee Machine Review book, so Im looking forward to burying my nose in it but, from an initial glance, looks really interesting. Ill give more of a rundown on it once Ive read it if it interests anyone.
Overall, a very successful day and well and truly worth the drive and getting over my fear of driving in Sydney.
No photos to share, unfortunately, although Scootas CS42 above (roasted in the Dalek), was a sight to behold and well worth the trip in itself to see. Im still chuckling to myself about someone who was looking at Andys tray of CS1-9 beans and talking about so, are these French Roast, are these Italian Roast, etc and picked up some Scoota Specials and asked what sort of roast those ones were - I bet they are rich and chocolately... ;D ;D ;D The a couple were looking at beans and the male was talking to Andy a little bit about beans and the lady picked up some of Scoots beans, recoiled in horror and started shuffling backwards as fast as she could dragging the male with her... Funny as a fit!
The quote, for me, of the day was when Den and I were off to one side and I was saying that someone over there looked a bit wacky, and Den replied "Well, lets face it, all of us roasters are pretty strange, arent we...goes with the territory." Fair point, I think!
I managed to drop in around 2:00pm for a couple of hours.
The first thing I saw when I walked through the entrance was the Coffee Snobs van.
A Godsend as I hadnt had a coffee since breakfast and having survived my karate grading I was long overdue for my next caffeine fix.
Scoots obliged with my first taste of WOW.
It was GOOD (and I dont usually drink short blacks).
Luckily for me Andy was distracted talking to some people so Scoots gave me another that Andy was ignoring.
I finally bought me some WOW and a bag of CS Chai as well for the better half.
From there we ventured inside and I had my next coffee from Di Bella before introducing myself. here coffee was nice too.
Then I spotted Sanchia and had a quick chat followed by a brief hello to Michelle and Yeeza.
Renzo was everywhere; either that or there was threee of him.
Ran into Dennis as well and he made me a nice piccolo with Bonsoy after the lady at the Bonsoy stand assured me it was good.
My wife hurried me past the 2kg Diedrich roaster and then said it was time to go.
I said bye to Scoots and Andy and consider it a nice afternoon out.
