Re: CafeBiz 2009 - have CoffeeSnobs will roast!

The happy Cafetto crew were there with plenty of good toys and gear on their stand.

There was also a CafeBiz colouring comp... and I really liked little Peter Tyler (aged 12) entry... he did really well to keep inside the lines but does need some work on writting his rs.

i managed to make a cameo appearance yesterday and caught some of the Trans Tasman heats before work dragged me away.

Didnt get a chance to say hi Andy, every time I headed your way my stinking phone rang! The only time it didnt you were inside talking to some other exhibitors.

Good little event, sounds like Sunday was the day to be there for CS action though!

Christian (on the machine), Anne and Phil.

The Dibella stand pumped out coffee all weekend and was easily the most used machine at the event. They are also among some of the most passionate coffee people I know, they really live the stuff.

The ad banner below is a ripper, easily my pick for "best of show" (just wished I had though of it first!).

As mentioned above... lots of people were drooling over the shiny stuff on the ECA stand. The Giotto is always a crowd favorite and they had plenty of other "wish list toys" too.

Its not really a coffee competition if these two dont turn-up... its always great to see Zoe from Coffeehit and David Makin, they love the comp scene and watch nearly all the competitors to see, compare and learn.

The Oz team won the trans tasman challenge on Sunday too!

Far out! I completely missed the cafetto stand and it looked awesome!

Anne was an absolute legend - and the espresso wasnt bad either! Learnt so much about coffee and the palate (as well as roasting!). She also made the better half a weak latte which killed mine - I told her it was all to do with the machine and then promptly took her over to the ECA stand (so beautiful) and tried to explain why my weak lattes werent as good

Re: CafeBiz 2009 - have CoffeeSnobs will roast!

Nick from Premier Products (who had lots of Bombora toys on his stand) tried to sell me on the virtues of pod coffee over dinner on Sunday night.

I promised to give it a shot on Monday.  Richard from Belaroma and I (both sceptical) had a couple of shots.

The shot was a little too hot (next model of the machine will fix that) but the shot was pretty fair, good crema and equal or better than most superauto machines (with many less moving parts).

The milk frother gizmo also had a hole in the front of the machine to back flush it into the drip tray.  Simple cleaning!

Good coffee packed in nitrogen flushed pods might be the future solution to office coffee woes?!?!

I can never see myself lusting for a pod machine but know of a few small businesses that would consider one of these over a semi auto machine.

I would like to see what sort of a shot a Giotto with an adaptor for a 14 gram pod would pull.

Midnight in my hotel on sunday night and I hear that "chhhhhh thud" sound of a car sliding down the road in the wet and coming to dull thud stop.

with the Snobs van parked on the street (Anzac pde) I jumped out of bed and onto the balcony to see what happened.

On the other side of the road a car had mounted the gutter and hit the wall. The driver and passenger were fine but it did attract a but of police attention including the riot squad?!?!?

Ahhh, gotta love life in the "big smoke"

Well my battery in nearly flat and after a 2 hour "rest" in Holbrook I better get on the road again.

Coffee at the Submarine cafe was 50/50. The Latte was good (so the coffee is fine), the double espresso (150ml) was tragic, worst I can remember this year! Staff are nice and the venue is great, most people through here while I have been posting all the pics are enjoying their food and drinks (lots of hot chocolates)... obviously double espresso was the wrong thing to order.

Their coffee is roasted by Zio Espresso in Albury, so Ill go via there now any see if I can get a better shot from the roastery (and maybe suggest they send a espresso shot trainer back here!!)

Maybe the topic should be "CafeBiz 2009 trip - have CoffeeSnobs will travel and Consult "

                            Stay safe on the road.

Damn! I thought I was standing far enough away to not be caught on camera.
