oh well andy, you cant win them all. If youve got a place that can serve a decent beer and has a good menu, then the establishment is a good find. Being able to get a decent coffee there is just icing on the cake.
Ive also had some good (although few and far between) experiences with coffex crap. Admittedly not too many though.

The cafe is very cool, large, interesting (lots of "stuff" around the walls). Staff are very happy and friendly.
Prices are fair, food is great, beer is cold and the coffee is....coffex.

hahaha that makes two of us lach. Its a shame really - Im sure saturday morning would have been more enjoyable or at least less expensive than a big friday night.
For those who did turn up, was the cafe any good?

Hey Andy,
Ive just realised something quite scandalous that could put my entire coffee experience on Saturday morning in danger. Tomorrow is St Patricks day - which means Saturday will for all intents and purposes be a total writeoff. If for some reason I fail to rouse myself in time to make brunny by 11, would it be possible to pay you the extra $10 next week and have the beans posted?

Hmmm... it might be easier if I also do a fly-by Angliss on the way home on Sat arvo for those enrolled in the course.
Email or PM me if you would like my to deliver your beans to the Coffee Academy.

Re: Melbourne Cafe day - 18th March 2006 - Highway
Im a newbie to the site and the world of quality home roasted coffee.
I was at the last meet up and learnt a great deal from the folk there.
Ill try to get along next week but Im actually enrolled in the HOME ROASTING and CUPPING course at the WA Coffee Academy on the same day in the afternoon.
And given that the Com-Games are also on, Im not sure how easy its gonna be getting around the city from one place to another on that Saturday, even on public transport. (esp carrying bags of coffee beans
)
But Ill see how I go....

Melbourne Cafe day - 18th March 2006 - Highway31
And now for something completely different…
This month’s café day will be held at:
Place:
Highway 31
743-745 Sydney Rd
Brunswick 3056 VIC
Date: Sat 18th March
Time: 11:00am
Not to sure what the coffee is like there (its been years since I was there last) but the food was always great and it’s an interesting place to meet.
Melbourne CS’rs can pick their March coffee up on the day too
