    Thats great!

It should be a top learning / teaching / sharing / showing day for all with a big range of roasters and techniques.

Im really looking forward to it.

Thanks Andy and all who gave their time to pass on some roasting info - it was well worth it, a bonus on my trip to Melbourne.

          Second that!

Really interesting to see the range of roasting contraptions in use.
Always great to chat to people whoe eyes DONT glaze over when you start to talk coffee to them.

Thanks to Andy and everyone else who made it happen.

Thanks to Chris and William Angliss as well! (Thats Chris N... and William Angliss. Not Chris Angliss and William Angliss... you get the idea )

          Brett.

            Re: CoffeeSnobs Roast-a-rama - Melbourne 1st Oct.

What a great day the Roast-a-rama was.     Thanks Andy and Chris for all the work, a great event not to be missed by all those interested in roasting.

In the next few days I am going to do my taste test on the Timor organic to see if there are any differences between the beans roasted in the Hottop and my heatgun roast. Colour is  identical so it should be a good indication.

Now if only my coffee making skills were consistent  etc   :-[

Just adding my thankyous to the list for Andy and Chris,
Had a great day and met lots of people passionate about coffee and coffee roasting.
Saw some great roasting techniques including Geekman3s heat gun method yielding 600GMS per batch and the beans looked an absolute treat.
Had way too much coffee such that I was going divergent on all 3 axes and waffling even more than usual!
Hope we can do somesuch again soon.

              Tim

                Re: CoffeeSnobs Roast-a-rama - Melbourne 1st Oct.

Yeah it was a great day out at the Coffee Academy. Such a big turnout of CSrs and a whole lot of new faces to put to seemingly anonymous CS usernames.

Its great getting together to share and learn and I doubt anyone left without picking-up at least a couple of new tips and tricks, a good feed and some great coffee.

It was also good to see that I was the only one who managed to go into third crack. :

Thanks so much to Chris for all his tireless work (yet again) and Jill for allowing us to billow roasted coffee aroma in the Willaim Angliss courtyard.

With any luck we can get a similar session together one day and Chris has suggested a "real roaster tour" for our next get together prior to Christmas. We will post ideas and details as they come together.

                  Re: CoffeeSnobs Roast-a-rama - Melbourne 1st Oct.

I dropped in fairly late into the day, but still managed to taste a few roasts.
It was great to meet everyone and put some faces to online names. Thanks to those who made the day possible, Andy, Chris & Jill@Angliss and all those roaster owners. I still get a little numb when I think about the various contraptions that were lying around. Makes my foray into the world of home roasting more imminent...

                  Nim.

We are also hoping to organise a film crew for the day to capture video of the event which will be a really cool resource for newbie roasters.
I missed out!    Seems I joined much too late, at least two interesting outings I missed out on!

This one would have been especially educational for me, so I wonder did the video happen? If so, is it possible to get a copy?

Yes, the roast-a-rama was a great day out and if there is enought interest in the new year we might do it again.

The video didnt happen on the day but we still want to produce one for just that reason... it is easier to see the devices in action then just describe em.

                      stay tuned for details
