Hi Andy, is there a tour bus waiting for us at Ground & Drunk?    too much caffeine makes aggressive drivers, you know!  Each arranges his/her own transport, or is there a designated tea-drinking driver?
It wont be a problem.....I promise to serve any aggressive, hyped caffeine addict our decaf   ;D

Melb Cafe Day Nov- the bean alliance roaster tour.

Thanks to Chris (2muchcoffeeman) this months Melbourne café day will be very special and unique.

Chris has arranged a tour of the Bean Alliance premises which is the roaster/supplier to bean ground & drunk, Gravity, Monte Coffee and Del Zotti brands. These guys roast on a scale quite different to what we do and it should be a real eye opener for all of us.

The Bean Alliance do not give public tours. This is once in life time opportunity to get to see the other side of a real roaster.

Positions for the tour are very limited and anyone attending will need to be “on the list” before the end of this week (a week before the tour). NO ON THE DAY TURN-UPS. If you are currently employed in the coffee industry or in the media please let us know before hand so we can clear it with the company. I expect that all attendees will need to sign a non-disclosure agreement (or similar) to protect the privacy of the bean alliance.

The bean alliance will also open their retail store for us at the end of the tour so anyone that wants to buy tea, coffee or machines and equipment can do so.

The day will start at bean ground & drunk when 2muchcoffeeman will make everyone a first class cuppa. We will then head to the bean alliance for a tour. After that we will head to St Ali in South Melbourne to see a smaller scale roaster.

CS member reviews seem to point at St Ali being a good place for lunch so we can probably grab a bite there for anyone who needs to absorb some caffeine.

    Date:
    Saturday 12th November

    Agenda for the day:

    8:30am – 9:15am
Quality coffee made to order by 2muchcoffeeman.
    bean ground & drunk
    6/224 St Georges Rd, Northcote
(between Artherton and Normanby on the East side)

    9:30 am – 12:00
    the bean alliance roaster tour
    the bean alliance
    25 Kumai Avenue, Reservoir

    1:00pm – till caffeined-out
Head for St Ali to see a boutique roaster in action.
    St Ali Cafe
    12-18 Yarra Pl, Sth Melbourne

Due to the nature of the tour only over 18s please and as mentioned above please let me know directly if you have any affiliation to another coffee business.

Get your vote in the poll if you want to come on this very special day out.
