I only use CP to make iced coffee drinks. If I want coffee hot, Ill use the machine.
I make my own flavoured syrup too. But it only goes into the iced coffee. I currently have a batch of peppermint syrup. Very refreshing on a hot day. Just bring 1 part sugar to 1 part water to the boil to dissolve the sugar. Add flavouring essence, bottle and let cool.

Indeed - once a good machine is in the picture, it seems to me inconceivable making coffee any other way...
While I dearly love my Cimbali and the nectar that oozes out of it Im not about to drag it out to the bush for a week-end of camping (at least not on a regular basis ;D), nor am I going to wait 2 hours after getting up in the morning for it to warm up so I can have my first cuppa.
CP makes a wonderfull cup of joe and while it is not espresso in some ways it is even better. Each has its own distinct properties with one of the big things people have mentioned to me being that CP actually tastes like the coffee beans smell. Something that most people dont find with coffee made with any other method.

I was over in Thailand once and in one eatery they had cold coffee on the menu. Does anyone know if this is the same as cold process coffee? Is this a common method of preparing the joe over there? It was quite a few years ago so I cant remember what it tasted like now.

I use CP almost exclusively for cold drinks. Only rarely will I use it for making a hot one.
For the most part I dont use flavored syrups anymore but occassionally Ill get a hankering for a flavored cuppa and man, ya gotta be careful when that happens! Mixing up a big glass of CP and whole milk and tossing in some flavored syrup (Hazelnut YUM!) or maybe some chocolate or caramel and youve got a drink that goes down so smooth it becomes really easy to slam back one after another only to suddenly realize youve just had about 20 cups of coffee and the day is only an hour old! CP can be a dangerous thing to have around on hot days! ;D 8-)
Even being in the middle of winter up here in the frozen north, between me and a couple of my friends who are CP converts Im still going through an industrial sized batch (2.3kg of coffee/9.5l of concentrate) every two weeks. Once the heat of summer hits I expect that batch will only last a week at most.
I have ordered a toddy maker from the States to play around with....maybe it will gather dust with the Bodum Santos, but it is good to experiment.... :P
Indeed it is..... And I have lost count of the number of drip machines, presses, stove-tops gathering dust and taking up precious space in my cupboards
