    Hey Matty G!

Its me. Your Aroma festival "mate". I was so inspired by that last hit from the Giotto that I had to join up with the snobs.

Ill verify everything Matt. I would drink Fijian Kava again before having another coffee from the Saeco!

ECM has never let me down at the aroma festival and now that I have a kitchen to put one in I am in the market. Just need to find a good deal.......

Dr V, if youre after Giotto (nice choice by the way!) then head on over to the "Coffee Hardware for Sale" area and check out what the site sponsors can offer. I am sure Chris (2muchcoffeeman) and Attilio (fresh_coffee) can sort you out appropriately - they both have FANTASTIC service and great snobs member pricing. You cant go wrong - I didnt buy off them, but youll see some of the great feedback theyve got in some of the posts in that forum as well.
      Enjoy !
Poundy (oh, dont forget youll want a grinder, Im sure Matty G will have told you that!)

We too were very impressed with one of the guys at the ECM stall, youngish guy, glasses, longish hair... anyway, he was heaps friendly, pulled a good shot, and happily tried to locate Chris (2mcm) for us, so we could thank him in person for our Giotto... no luck there.

Was disappointed that there werent more machine manufacturers to view, other than ECM I couldnt see anything at all that interested me...

Standing in the long queues for coffee with a pram didnt work for me at all, so I just sent my husband on dashes to buy whole beans, and well just try them all out at home.

Beautiful weather made it such a nice day out.

Re: Sydney Rocks Aroma Festival- whos going??

My day was shortened by a big night the night before and a few other chores to complete in the morning. The lines at the stalls seemed twice as long as last year, so i only grabbed two coffees! the first was from Karmee as we arrived (due to the shortest of the huge lines in the area) we aksed for a piccolo type size, which was essentially a 3/4 filled cup i guess.. and the result was quite a nice coffee. i was happy with it and they gave you a little choccy egg too!!!
the second was bad to say the least.. it was nearing the end of the day, 4pm i think and we jumped in the line at incas. watching the pour.... even swmbo loked at me and whispered that cant be good ... it was essentially a 10-15 second yellow water shot. No need to describe anymore, unfortunately that one went straight in the bin... im hoping for their sake it was just the end of the day and baristas were tired, but still.

we also squeezed in for scott callaghans latte art demonstration. It was good if not a little extended as we had to sit on the stairs, people got to ask a few questions at the end and there were a few laughs. nothing overly insightful as i think he realised the crowd was made up mostly of people with limited knowledge (as he did a show hands to gauge the crowd). His intro DVD was pretty cool. and i also had a litttle shudder, when scott had just finished steaming his milk and instead of the usual sharp tap on the bench and a little swirl of the jug, he banged it 3 or 4 times quite hard on the roof of the Giotto...! he later explained that he was lent the machine... so it started to make sense.. hahaha.

All in all... too many people for the amount of stalls, so they could probably try and arrange more roasters/stalls or egt some extra machines at each stall.
finished the day off with some pork belly and bavarian wheat beers at the lowenbrau. yum.

          KoNG

Ps. i have to say sorry to Framey, for not getting the beer swap done. i arrived late and had to park a long way from the rocks, so carrying the bottles around wasnt an option. Unfoertunately framey had to leave early. Anyways well get the swap done asap.

Re: Sydney Rocks Aroma Festival- whos going??

It was a beautiful day, which sadly enough, drew huge crowds.

Only had one cuppa, down at the champions tent, prepared by Hazel. They were still setting the tent and machines up, and there was already a huge queue for Klaus (reigning WBC champion) on the Synesso. When the second machine came online, I jumped into that queue. Hazel was frantically trying to dial in the grinder. I was in no hurry, and was rewarded with a very nice shot. It was a double, because the single was being a pain in the arse. Thanks Hazel!

If I remember correctly, the coffee used was Numero Uno, roasted by Dean Morgan out in Emu Plains. Very nice indeed. The Synesso was using Byron Bay coffee, Id heard it was decent, but not spectacular.

Walked past the throng of people queueing up for a look at some toasters or sandwich presses and watched a little of the Latte Art Comp, some of the competitors were really nervous.

Got to meet Andy and Chris (2mcm), along with Framey and FC. Nice bunch of blokes.

Ended up at Lowenbrau with a plate of cheese spaetzle and a litre of dunkel weizen.

Dr. V. Welcome to the dark side, or are we the light side?

DR eh? When did you get that medical degree

Yes I look forward to the day you get the new addition to the family. Ill be round with a bag of home roast for sure. I was very tempted to trade up yesterday, but CFO made it clear that if a new appliance is to be bought its going to be a LCD TV first

Ive already forwarded some of the deals 2MCM was offering on the old classic from Talk Coffee so I would certainly give them and other sponsors a go. No B.S and they will back it up with heaps of advice, which you will definitely need!

                Cheers,

                Matt

                    Hi

I am trying to find a floor plan of the 2006 festival. Can you help. I am looking for the guys who were selling a new thick hot chocolate. Have not seen the product again. I do not think i have the correct name of the product.

                    Regards

                    Steven

I went to the Catering Trade Fair last year at Homebush and there were some guys there selling a very thick hot choc. Ive still got the program and some things from that show, I could have a dig for the name if you like.

I dont think you can handle seeing me twice in one lifetime Chris.

The ECM display always has a huge queue. Very hard to get in if you dont get there early.

Closing down the only public toilets in the building last year was a bit of a downside as well.
