    I went and visited Luca and Dave at First Pour today. It was good fun. I got to pull a shot on the La Marzocco and take home some of Lucas secret blend :-)

    I definitely think 11am-3pm would be a better time on Saturday. 9am is a bit to early to get out of bed.

        How did the blend turn out? I finished it off through my La Peppina. I think that I put in a bit much robusta and the kenyan probably needs to be separated out and roasted darker. Through the Peppina it had a rich mouthfeel, the whole mandheling body thing, some berries from the kenyan and a bit of acidity from the same, but I felt that it was missing some sweetness and possibly some more action on the mid palate.

          I hadnt read through this thread, so I didnt know First Pour was closed when I dropped in to pick up some beans on the way home from Ikea last week. It was my first visit to Veneziano/First Pour. The door was open, Peter was around and he offered me a tour of the place which was incredibly nice of him. Thanks heaps Peter, if youre reading this at some point.

          What a fantastic space, great atmosphere and a real service to the coffee drinking and home roasting community. It must be quite rare for a commercial roasting operation to be educating and encouraging people to roast their own.

          After running me through the blends on offer, Peter rustled us up a couple of shots (Concordia?) which were, of course, fantastic (thanks again, Peter, for the hospitality).

          I bought 3 bags of beans to take home: Veneziano Estate, Bella Vita and Makin Espresso. They are all beautiful blends but the one that blew my socks off was the Veneziano Estate. I will be buying this one regularly.

          Congratulations on your opening, First Pour! Well done to the Veneziano team for setting it up and for producing such high quality coffee, and thank you once again Peter for the tour, the coffee and your time.

            Hi Luca,

            Your blend was good (Mandheling is always good :-)) but I also thought it could have been it a bit sweeter. I probably need to try a lot more different roasts to be able to give a better explanation of the flavours I tasted.

            I also loved the Veneziano Estate but it went so fast because it was popular with some visitors.

              Congrats on finally getting it up and running! Looks like quiet a laid back but efficient workspace you guys have got there now, whats it like having the extra freedom to work with compared to the old factory?

              Will have to get up there sometime and try some of the blends again, while the customers are happy with Forza Im tempted to get a kilo or two of something for myself.

                Interested in going and checking it out there this Saturday. Are your preliminary Saturday hours in place (ie 9-1) or have you changed them?

                Also do you guys have the Iberital Challenge in stock?

                  Our opening hours on Saturday are still 9-1. Im afraid that I wasnt forceful enough before they were printed on our door!

                  We have one ex-demo challenge in stock. It has a cracked hopper and we are prepared to sell it to CS members at quite an attractive price. New stock should be in at the end of next week. We only ordered the doserless models, though - didnt feel that the doser was particularly good quality.
